One of my nieces favorite toys...for now anyway.
October 20. My good friend Garrett Schorran had his tractor catch on fire last year and he had to rebuild a lot of the engine. He gave me this piston because he didn't want it and I thought it was awesome. It's a good 6 inches tall.

Charulata (Bengali: চারুলতা), sometimes released in the English-speaking world as The Lonely Wife, is a 1964 film by Bengali director Satyajit Ray, based upon the novella Nastanirh ("The Broken Nest") by Rabindranath Tagore. It features Soumitra Chatterjee, Madhabi Mukherjee and Sailen Mukherjee.
As you can probably tell, the toy is well loved.
Strobist: 1 AB 800 bare bulb (with standard 7' reflector attached) in front of subject and bounced off ceiling.

This is some work from a few weeks ago at Kingsbridge and District Camera Club's macro workshop.
I produced very little mainly because I did a lot of teaching and very little time on my own.
However this was a fine piece of glassware from home which we set up on a stand and placed a silver reflector behind it and then I used a dock off torcch as the light source in the reflector.
I suppose it will get used as a background in an Audio Visual sequence like the one I have on Youtube:
Once again I seem to be getting behind with my reading. Tidied up my bedside cabinet this morning (yes, this is tidy) and thought I'd take a snapture.
Nearly finished the Frederick Forsyth, so don't know what to tackle next…maybe the Stephen King…mmm, I'll see how I'm feeling when I get there…
Nikon D3 c/w Nikkor 35mm f2 D + Nikon SB-700 Speedlight, bounced from open, white, door.
I've shot quite a number of photos of this man, trying to get the right combination of flash and ambient light to capture the trees in his yard. This one is the best, but not a great pose.
I have a question: do any of you photoshoppers know what I can do about the reflection in his glasses?
he doesn't have a reflective coating on his lenses and I fought those reflections with every photo! I didn't win many, even without the flash...
Strobist info: Canon Speedlite on a stand to camera right, aimed into reflector and bounced back to subject. Flash and camera synched with Pocket Wizards.
I took this in a room with mostly bare white walls, the light bounced pretty nicely I thought. My friend likes to dress up as characters from some of the shows she watches and this happens to be her favorite. I played around quite a bit with different angles and settings of the flash before I got the lighting right.
Sunrise bouncing around between buildings, on a beautiful day whispering of the coming Winter, oh yes! --- downtown Dallas.

I tell ya, the end of this school year is trying my patience, probably because my finals are not going to be that trying (for once).
I had the fortune to upload this one at a computer at school which is using Lightroom 3, hence the awesomeness of the preset.
I should go back and lighten up Kari a bit, but that's okay. Ce la vie.
Oh, I also finally got around to blogging about this.
Lissyloola looking slightly anxious as I waft her hair with my reflector with one hand, just missing her nose, whilst trying to cpture the moment the bounced light hits her face with the other hand.
She puts up with a lot.
Elliott 6 month. First pic from shoot to be edited, with my new fave Nelly Nero action- Whipped cream.
Sunlight careening around between buildings in downtown Dallas -- and the air is promising Winter, with little nips, sunset.
I shot this in my basement and bounced light off the walls down there. I wanted to challenge myself this week and shoot men, because I really feel more comfortable shooting women. It was a fun experiment and I think it was a good way for me to start to get out of my comfort zone.
I shot a commercial for Sprint the other day, and this was one of our very talented actresses, Elizabeth. Snapped a few photos of her on our cyc wall. Gotta love that biotar!
This was shot at f2.8 1/2. I used my 580 exII in an octabox umbrella and just used a bunch of bounced light other than that.
Sometimes i listen to the TV with my wireless headphones so I can blast the volume up... Usually it's either early in the morning or late at night. Whether it's from the headphones of the surround sound I hear noises from everywhere.
