I made this for my Dad's birthday a few years ago. The images are from the family home in Upstate NY. I colorized them, printed them out, and decoupaged them onto the frame. Inside the frame are bottle caps from a kind of soda Dad used to drink when he was there.
Folk art robot at the American Folk Art Museum; with bottlecap arms, a can of pepper for a body, baby food glass jar for a head, and egg brains. Excellent.
Note that all three have old-timey male portraits on them. We didn't plan that. "Sioux City" Sasparilla is made in New York.

This is another shot of the large bottlecap-size spider under a leaf of California Honeysuckle (Lonicera hispidula, Caprifoliaceae) in the woods today. You can see the webbing that goes to its web. The spider is genus Araneus in the family Araneidae, probably Araneus gemma or A. gemmoides. (These species are known to cross.) They make those large Halloween webs that you don't want to walk into at night -- where's the spider?? Arachtober 8. (San Marcos Pass, 8 October 2025)
