My daughter, like many of us, is finding lockdown a little tricky.

Yuba got bored upstairs and so decided to come downstairs to let us know how bored he was.
(Alternatively, he was trying to sing the lyrics to some of Naomi's favorite heavy metal songs.)
Was pretty bored this night so kept it simple with the colors as well.. Silvers and Blacks aways classic..
Boreal Chickadee (Poecile hudsonicus) - Sober Island, Nova Scotia, Canada
Today I visited a small island off the coast of Nova Scotia. About 1.5 hours from where I live in search of something 'new' in winter. I was not disappointed, as I was able to see Harlequin Ducks (far off shore) and this lovely little boreal chickadee. Less seen then their black-capped cousins, it was fun to see this one emerge from the growth.
Thanks for visiting!
Fynn on the decking waiting for his buddy Luan to return from an excursion to the garden. Usually Luan isn't very fond of the garden as there are too many things that frighten him: people working in the neighbouring gardens, lawn mowers, screaming kids, dogs, other cats, etc. There are not many things that make Fynn nervous but he is still not allowed to wander around outside due to his chronical infection. Most of the time he is quite satisfied with the huge decking but he hates it when Luan leaves him alone. He didn't have to wait long, though. Luan returned home in a haste after fifteen minutes when one of the neighbour's dogs started to bark.
Sometimes I just get bored of Flickr...
Not bored of photos, not bored of all the friends I've made here!, just bored of Flickr. And I know myself quite well. I'm not the kind of unstable person in what concerns passions, quite the opposite. But this photo/poem stuff (I'm not bored of poetry, no way, that's one of my oldest passions!) is a project that I'm also developing elsewhere now. So, it's time to refresh things around here. I don't like to do the same for a very long time, that's what bores me to death.
Another bath tub bird set - six photos. I got two new yard bird captures this week while shooting through an open window in my bathroom that overlooks the deck. Boreal Chickadees have making regular appearances in my yard for the first time, and I caught a Northern Flicker as well. These aren't lifer birds, but first captures in my yard.
Also included are shots of a Junco, Black-capped Chickadee, and Red-breasted Nuthatch.
It was the first time I have ever been close enough to a Flicker for a portrait shot. I was too close to get the whole bird.

A wildflower (or wild flower) is a flower that grows in the wild, meaning it was not intentionally seeded or planted.
I'm kind of bored so I thought I would post one of my unposted images from April. This was shot with Alysha Nett before she moved out of state.

Out for my daily walk and it was warm enough to take my camera. When I stopped for a break I was rewarded with a small flock of mixed chickadees, some black capped and some boreal.
Hooray, after a 6 week absence, though low in the sky, we have been getting the sun lately and spring is on the way! Don't tell that to this Boreal Chickadee though, as it was minus 33 C this morning. Normally, I see the Black-capped ones at the feeder, and this is the first Boreal, so I am thrilled. The two species look similar but the Boreal has a brown head and brown feathers on its side, key features that show up well in the image. This one had his feathers erected to provide extra insulation from the bitter cold and cover his legs, giving him a somewhat rounded appearance. Called "piloerection", this is one of the many coping strategies that northern birds employ to survive the harsh winter.

This was shot inside a Cedar grove and it was rather dark, so I used flash to balance out the lighting.

Early on I had purchased a film scanner and worked on some of my old slide images..... I just never got the hang of it or maybe I expected the results to look cleaner and more like digital captures, but I quickly lost interest...
This is a digital capture from 2009 and the next image is from a slide shot in 1996....
Between work and bad weather, I have not been able to get out much to shoot either a sunrise or any wildlife which seem to be my thing. I often notice our cat sitting in the sunlight looking out the window and wish I had my camera but never grab it because I'm sure he'll move by the time I get it, put the proper lens on it and then adjust the settings. Well he waited for me....this time.
