Borders Group, Inc. (former NYSE ticker symbol BGP) was an international book and music retailer based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The company employed approximately 19,500 throughout the U.S., primarily in its Borders and Waldenbooks stores.
As of January 30, 2010, the company operated 511 Borders superstores in the world, including 508 in the U.S. and three in Puerto Rico. The company also operated 175 stores in the Waldenbooks Specialty Retail segment, including Waldenbooks, Borders Express, Borders airport stores, and Borders Outlet stores.
On February 16, 2011, Borders applied for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and began liquidating 226 of its stores in the United States. Despite an offer from the private-equity firm Najafi Companies, Borders was not able to find a buyer before its July 17 bidding deadline, and therefore began liquidating its remaining 399 retail outlets on July 22, with the last remaining stores closing their doors on Sunday, September 18, 2011. The Chapter 11 case was ultimately converted to Chapter 7. As of October 14, 2011, the Borders.com website has been replaced by a redirect to the Barnes & Noble website, effectively shutting down Borders.com entirely.

Yesterday after seeing this I was inspired to get my hands on a GOOD looking/durable notepad to jot anything and everything my little mind has going on. Grabbed it @ Borders books.

"The town is named for W.S. Body (or Bodey), who had discovered small amounts of gold in hills north of Mono Lake. In 1875, a mine cave-in revealed a rich vein of ore, which led to purchase of the mine by the Standard Company in 1877. People flocked to Bodie and transformed it from a town of a few dozen to a boomtown. In 1881, Bodie's "bust" began and the town's population declined drastically. The town's population continuing to decline until only a few remained. Mining officially ceased in Bodie in 1942, the final nail in the coffin for Bodie's township. Grenzschild der Schweiz (selten?)
Der 1939 errichtete, 2,6 m hohe Grenzzaun zwischen Kreuzlingen TG (Schweiz) und Konstanz (Deutschland), ein Relikt aus der Nazi-Zeit (auch Judenzaun genannt), wurde 2007 abgerissen. Heute stehen solche Schilder, welche ein Überschreiten der Grenze zu Fuß verhindern sollen (aber bei mir nicht taten)
On May 14th it was 68 years ago that the German Luftwaffe bombed the city center of Rotterdam. The ensuing fire destroid almost all of what remained of the old city. Just as the year before laser beams were used to mark the fire border, thus making clear the incredible damage this bombing caused.
My border collie, Indy, just after I finished washing off the soap from his bath. He doesn't hate bath time, but he does not look forward to it either. This black and white border collie would much rather snap at the water from the hose than let it get on him.

My friend's Border Collie is convalescing. Their vet put the dreaded plastic cone on him, so I brought over the soft e-collar that Petey wore post-op. It made such a difference: He had some of his freedom back, so immediately went and picked up a squeaky toy. Thanks to Harmonie66 for finding those online!

As of sometime soon, this company won't exist at all anymore. This store at North & Clybourn closed some time ago.
Yep, we crossed the border on foot. There were signs directing hikers to proceed directly to Goat Haunt (4.5 miles away) to go through customs. When we got there, it was just two border patrol officers sitting at a picnic table checking passports.
An exhibit featuring photographs and illustrations from the graphic novel THE PHOTOGRAPHER by Didier Lefevre, Emmanuel Guibert, and Frederic Lemercier, which The Boston-Globe praises as "An inspiring, beautiful book ... The Photographer should be mandatory reading for our secretary of State and president."

In 1986, photojournalist Didier Lefevre documented one of the clandestine cross-border humanitarian missions undertaken by Doctors Without Borders (MSF) to assist Afghans trapped in areas hardest-hit by the Soviet invasion. Dodging Soviet aircraft and navigating treacherous terrain, Lefevre's journey nearly cost him his life. He collaborated with aclaimed illustrator Emmanuel Guibert and graphic designer Frederic Lemercier to bring this story to life in THE PHOTOGRAPHER.
This exhibit offers a taste of the book that combines the late Lefevre's dramatic images and Guibert's stunning artwork to bear witness to the hardships endured by the Afghan people throughout this conflict—and to the present day.
Added some borders to bring my 12" block up to pillow size... might keep going and make it even bigger (around 20" now).
