"From the heart of this dark, evacuated campus
I can hear the library humming in the night,
a choir of authors murmuring inside their books
along the unlit, alphabetical shelves."
Billy Collins, "Books", in The Apple that Astonished Paris. Fayetteville: University of Arkansas Press, 1988. page 31.
Category: Travel and Language, but not when it's also Star Trek.
Most of my books are going into storage. To remind me what I own, I'm taking pictures and sorting them by categories to make it easier to find the right box later.

Sterling Memorial Library (SML) is the main library building of the Yale University Library system in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. Opened in 1931, the library was designed by James Gamble Rogers as the centerpiece of Yale's Gothic Revival campus. The library's tower has sixteen levels of bookstacks containing over 4 million volumes. Several special collections—including the university's Manuscripts & Archives—are also housed in the building. It connects via tunnel to the underground Bass Library, which holds an additional 150,000 volumes.
The library is named for John W. Sterling, a lawyer representing Standard Oil, whose huge bequest to Yale required that an "enduring, useful and architecturally beautiful edifice" be built. Sterling Library is elaborately ornamented, featuring extensive sculpture and painting as well as hundreds of panes of stained glass created by G. Owen Bonawit. In addition to the book tower, Rogers' design featured five large reading rooms and two courtyards, one of which is now a music library.

Left: English -> Fiction
Right: English -> Science Fiction -> Clarke.
Even though the Pratchett stack is bigger, I have more Clarke books, because there's half a dozen again in the "German" stack.

These books are some of the latest I've been reading through for Dr. Powell's 'Research Methods and Bibliography' class. It's really easy, and I don't have to read the entire book each time they are assigned; however, the book by Hart here is excellent and I wish I had time to finish it. I'm looking forward to digging into the 'Postmodern Bible' next week.
- Invitation to Theology: A Guide to Study, Conversation, and Practice, by Michael Jinkins
- Faith Thinking: The Dynamics of Christian Theology, by Trevor Hart
- The Postmodern Bible, by The Bible and Culture Collective (many peeps)
Second bookstack after the first one has been cleaned up. The books are the only thing holding this stack up.
Some of the bookstacks in the library. I believe these were shelves of goverment docs and other materials, with shelves that could be moved at the push of a button.
My passion rises for storytelling and somehow I've been making a career out of it, from TV now at Intel. Now I'm wising up and reading books about the wonders and techniques. My buddy Mark Ivey turned me on the the Story Factor -- good tips inside!
Another "I haven't got a shot today" moment so another from in the house!
