This past Saturday, my wife's friend Marie McAlpine came over to practice some Halloween makeup application and have me photograph it for her to be able to share it through social media.

I got a polite reminder I needed to make more of these. this is what I came up with that night when I set to work.
The bone was a deer leg bone found in the woods, and cut down and cleaned up some. Sadly it needs a lot of work before they will be ready for use. well, for anyone save me. ;-)They measure between 5 and 8 inches in length, and are about 1/8th of an inch thick.

I'm not sure what kind of bone this is or what kind of animal it belongs to or... It was with a small container with shells and stuff from Trinidad, so I imagine it's some sort of tropical thing, and belonged to something that was around the beach. Any ideas?

I was able to procure a copy of "Before Bone" by Jeff Smith for my sons. They love Bone, and I have sold them on this being like Bone Volume 0.
This does exactly as the title states. It granulates bone for use during joint replacement surgery. Part of a comissioned photoshoot for the UK distributor the item was dismantled and the base shot first the next layer was positioned on a clear sheet of perspex and the lower part removed. The next photo was then taken, the process was then repeated for the third layer. As the camera was tripod mounted the layered composition was easy to assemble in photoshop. Two strobes and a large overhead reflector supplied the light source.

This was the first real road trip we took Chloe on, but I don't think she was really impacted that much, as you can see here.
The Bone Caves are a series of natural caves set into a high limestone cliff called Creag nan Uamh (Crag of the Caves). The caves are named for the large numbers of animal bones found during excavations.
There are four main cave openings in the cliffs, formed before the last ice age by water dissolving limestone in cracks in the surrounding rock. Subsequent glacial action and erosion of the glen by water left the caves hundreds of feet above the valley floor.
There is no indication that the caves were ever used as human habitat, but two separate human burials have been discovered within the caves.
In total, over 1000 pieces of reindeer antler have been found in the Bone Caves, with dates ranging from 47,000 to 8,300 years ago.
One rare find was the skull of a Northern lynx, dated to 1,770 years ago. This is the only Northern lynx ever found in Scotland. Other intriguing remains include a possible polar bear, arctic fox, wolf, and brown bear.
Finds from the caves are kept at the Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. (Above Information Off Google)
All around the Maritime Museum, there are skeletons of whales and other creatures suspended from the ceilings. This one is in a corridor, and I just liked the way the shadow of its spine was cast on the wall
It is the Golden Age of Piracy. Renegade captains command the most powerful weapons on Earth: warships. In Skull & Bones, you are an insatiable, upstart pirate captain who has refused the king’s pardon. Having nothing to lose, you sailed from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean, an exotic and untamed frontier full of lavish riches.
