One of the most unique canes I've come across so far, this is made to look like leg bones! And it's the right size, too. Oh, and it's punny - "walking" stick - get it? I want to get it a shoe. I got it from this wonderful artist, he painted this eagle and stars onto it, and a little pinstriping on the back, too. It's sooo amazing now! He has some others too, get them before they're all gone! Check them out at www.dirkblacker.com/Cane%20designs.htm
Bone lace bobbins with various forms of decoration including simple drilled dots, filed lines, spiral work and inlaid wire.
Some of the dots make up names: these would be ordered as ‘specials’ from the turner at a weekly market or as he traveled from village to village looking for sales.
All these bobbins are very old, some turned more than 300 years ago. The bone used was usually mutton bone.
Glass beads called ‘spangles’ were attached to the slim South Midland area style of bobbin with copper or brass wire to add weight when in use on the pillow.

Fracture or sprain of the cartilage surrounding the bone or diseases such as osteoarthritis can result in bone pain. Apart from severe unbearable pain, the patients find it hard to move the affected bone.
When bone cells called osteocytes sense mechanical stress on the skeleton due to activities such as weight-lifting or even walking, they transform the forces into biological responses, which signal other cells to make or remove bone. Many researchers studying osteocytes also believe that they produce factors that transmit information to other organs and tissues.

Many people involved in the conspiracy and other high powered members of the goverment were members of this organization. Skull and Bones was founded at Yale College in New Haven, Connecticut in 1832. It is the oldest and most prestigious of Yale's seven secret societies. Among the others are: Scroll & Key, Book & Snake, Wolf's Head, Eliahu, and Berzelius. These fraternities serve as a recruiting ground for young men destined for careers in government, law, finance and other influential sectors of American life. Skull & Bones is the elite of the elite among these secret societies. Only Scroll & Key can claim a near equal influence on American affairs over the past 160 years.
Unlike the Greek fraternities on most other American university campuses, Skull & Bones and its similar secret societies exist exclusively at Yale. They are not part of any nationwide public association. The other elite Ivy League colleges, Harvard and Princeton have similar e~clusive secret societies. Yet, even among these few universities, the secret societies of Yale-led by Skull & Bones-are unchallenged in their influence on American political affairs.

19/52, Teleidoscope- Bones Explored
This is Fionn. He lived in the field next to my sister's home. He was a beautiful horse whom at the end of his life turned literally into, 'a bag of bones'. He passed away last fall and left a very lonely companion named Cookie to wander the fields alone.
This photo is a composite of Fionn circa September 2010 and me from today.
I wanted to represent bones in a non human way and I felt Fionn was the best expression of this.
I'm sorry for any messy composite work... I'm still new at this. ;)
Human bone.
Unburnt bone.
The pores present in the orbital roofs indicate that he/she suffered from anaemia.
Grave find, Uppgarde, Vallstena, Gotland, Sweden.

These bone-in breasts are from Hubbard chickens, carefully reared over a longer period of time, allowed to move about freely and fed with premium wheat. The result is a superior textured moist meat bursting with flavour.

Saw this one at the grocery store. Grocery shopping with the little lady pays off sometimes.
Here is my 18 week old Saint Bernard baby Bones at 52lbs. He's jumped right on his new bed as soon as I laid it down. He also shares the bed with his big sister Hennessy who is 9yrs old and 65lb Boxer and his big brother Scar Face who is 8yrs old and 6lb Chihuahua. Before they received their Big Barker bed they were all squeezing onto a little bed that fit Hennessy and Scar now they can all snuggle with plenty of room. Everyone in the family loves their new Big Barker bed!

Her bones are brittle and not as strong
Her breasts are sagging and getting long
Wrinkles are evident and getting deep
Her biggest joy is a good night's sleep.
Gumming her food and swallowing slow
Doesn't seem to help her digestion to flow.
Bran is her choice of breakfast these days
It's good for her, you know in what ways.
She once was a beauty, I have been told
But now she's just looking like she's gotten old.
She once loved to paint, and be creative and stuff
I guess at her age, just breathing is enough!
Sorry Elaine, hope I haven't been too rough
It's just hard getting old, and times will get tough.
But remember your friends and how we all feel
We love you and teasing you gives us a thrill!
You are a great friend and add joy to our lives
And the favorite by far, of all my brother's wives.
I hope your day is good and all things go your way
And you really enjoy a "Happy Birthday" !
Love you like a sister, Connie
Bones are beautiful things. Not given much thought unless you are a radiologist or you break one. I broke my pelvis and it's been a pain in the keister. Getting better though.
