A mother and calf bison share a moment of bonding. It's important for the calf to stay close to its mother in the early days of life. there are many predators roaming around the valleys and forests of Yellowstone and the protection of the herd is the only thing keeping this little calf safe.

In biology, the term pair bonding refers to the strong affinity that develops in some species between a mating pair, often leading to the production and rearing of offspring and potentially a lifelong bond. It is a little-known fact that snails, although hermaphrodites, can develop a strong pair bond where the individuals simply switch between male and female as the mood suits them. These two snails are tiny juveniles, so presumably have the rest of their lives to look forward to being with each other.

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.
A quick trip to the UP over the weekend found us at Bond Falls - a must stop for any trip to the Upper Peninsula. The water on the falls was lower than usual, but it's still a favorite.
Le commerce c'est un échange monétaire entre du travail concret et du travail cristallisé. Ou quelque chose comme ça.
Mais commerce ou pas, le travail c'est aussi une histoire de liens.
UP MPHBO descends into Bond, Colorado, the east end of the Craig Branch, behind a ratty ES44AC leading an SD70ACe and twenty cars.
I have photographed Bond Falls in all seasons, and fall is my favorite, but winter is a close second. Some people only photograph the lower part of the falls, which has the highest drop, and don't take the time to view the upper falls which I think is more beautiful. The best time is just after a wet clinging snow, but even without that they look pretty nice.
The local from Phippsburg drops down into Bond, Colorado, with a plethora of UP power to be picked up and taken back to Denver.
CSX 5443 has just brought a short train off the Craig Branch and will be added to the waiting Green River, WY detour train to power it for the climb up Moffat.

Another tender moment from my African Safari. There's nothing as tender as watching the bond between mother and cub. This moment just pulled at my heartstrings.

The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. - Richard Bach

Bond Falls is a gorgeous waterfall in southern Ontonagon County and one of the most popular in the U.P. The total drop of the falls is around 50 feet.
Thanks for viewing.
I can't believe I was able to capture this moment. The moment of the male placing his wing on the female while they make eye contact is a rare and deeply personal glimpse into their interaction from what I've read. This type of behavior isn't just endearing—it's also a significant moment reflecting their bond and potential courtship or pair maintenance.
In the quiet hush of a tender moment’s grace,
A gentle touch links hearts in a sacred space.
Whispers of trust in a silent embrace,
Beyond words, their spirits interlace.
Amidst the bloom and soft petals’ glow,
A bond unspoken begins to grow.
In stillness they find what words cannot say,
A connection that blossoms day after day.
May your heart always find warmth in love’s gentle embrace, and may every silent bond remind you of the quiet strength that resides within. Keep shining, and let your spirit bloom endlessly. ❤️

It was overcast when I shot this through, you guessed it, my kitchen window. This was the best my camera and I could do to capture the pair bonding behavior of these cardinals.

One more of my long-awaited dream came true! Finally, I have personally seen the legendary island where were shooting one part of the Bondiana - "Man with the Golden Gun". This is a very amazing place located in the Gulf of Siam at Ko Khao Phing Kan, Phang Nga. To all fans of films about James Bond I highly recommend to visit this remarkable place. And what a splendid picture!
