A friend and I were waiting along a trail when we heard some sounds in the thick brush beside us. The rustling and cracking sound had us perplexed until we looked up and saw this Eastern Red Squirrel.

It was going from branch to branch, working it's way along and knocking the pine cones from the tree, and peppering the area around us.

I got the look from it when I whistled at it.

These shots are more difficult than I thought - the problem is people are too nice. They see me with a camera and they stop, walk around and stay out of the frame. But no....I want you IN the frame....To funny. So I have to learn to be more stealth

Christ Church Greyfriars, City of London. Grounds of church bombed in WW2 turned into public gardens.

One of these things is not like the other.... We got photo bombed at just the last second, but I went ahead with the shot.

I took this photograph at St. Felip Neri Square, located in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. Presided over by the baroque church from which it takes its name, the square features a number of historic elements that make it particularly attractive, especially when you view it in silence.

It's a tiny square with a charming little fountain in the middle and overlooked by the baroque church of Sant Felip Neri. Next to the church, the school of Sant Felip Neri still survives. When the schoolchildren aren't playing in the square, and there's silence around, you can almost hear the bombs that fell from the sky one fateful day in January 1938. You can still see the wounds etched into the façade of the church, and they still seem to hurt. A plaque reminds us of the fact that a bombing raid by Italian fascist planes, Franco's allies, ended the lives of 42 people, many of them children, who had sought refuge in the air-raid shelter below the church. Now, the children play in the shade of the acacias, unaware of this tragic past, in this square that marks the entrance to Barcelona's old Jewish Quarter.

The one in the middle let one fly and it missed. We were all lucky that all the geese that were flying over didn't let loose. Carpentersville Nj.

RR32 makes it way back up the US Steel yard after spotting coils. Unfortunately I got cloudbanged on their way down. Not wanting to lose the shot i waited for them to double back, but alas a tanker truck bombed me as the unit crossed my shot. Oh well, the shot’s still alright.

The Riverside, Phnom Penh

Pigeons at the Riverside are so tame, they will actually eat right out of your hand. The one above just flew in to say hi and to see if my camera was edible. 😁

In the photo above, you're actually looking across The Tonle Sap River, away from the city. A five minute walk from here, The Tonle Sap merges with The Mekong River. This area of Phnom Penh is known as The Riverside, home of The Royal Palace, The National Museum, Wat Ounalom and dozens of cafes, bars, restaurants and hotels.

There is a wide, paved pedestrian sidewalk running along the rivers, which makes it a popular hangout for foreigners and locals alike. Especially after sunset, when it cools off.

(Maltese: Bieb il-Bombi, Italian: Porta delle Bombe, meaning "Bombs' Gate") . It was originally built in 1721 as an advanced gate within the faussebraye of the Floriana Lines, and it was enlarged with the construction of a second archway in 1868. The ramparts on either side of the gate have since been demolished, leaving the gate looking like a triumphal arch.

A World War II vintage B-17 bomber delivers its payload amidst bursting antiaircraft flak in this simulated scene. It was created from an image that I took during an air show this summer. On this Veterans Day weekend, let us honor and remember all of our veterans and the sacrifices that they have made.

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

Sun Tzu

War is only a cowardly escape from the problems of peace.

Thomas Mann

The most shocking fact about war is that its victims and its instruments are individual human beings, and that these individual beings are condemned by the monstrous conventions of politics to murder or be murdered in quarrels not their own.

Aldous Huxley

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Bertrand Russell

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell.

William Tecumseh Sherman

I will not play tug o' war. I'd rather play hug o' war. Where everyone hugs instead of tugs, Where everyone giggles and rolls on the rug, Where everyone kisses, and everyone grins, and everyone cuddles, and everyone wins.

Due to its remoteness one of the main activities at Orford Ness was the investigation of bomb ballistics; the study of the flight of objects moving under their own momentum and the force of gravity.

Tram no. 302 runs every winter through Bendigo streets, suitably warmed up with all sorts of lovely hand made crocheted bunting, seat covers, blankets and cushions. The inside is even nicer. It is decorated by an anonymous group of needling ninjas who have been brightening up the streets for the past seven years. Yarn art.
