Ever since we crawled out of that primordial slime, that's been our unifying cry, "More light." Sunlight. Torchlight. Candlelight. Neon, incandescent lights that banish the darkness from our caves to illuminate our roads, the insides of our refrigerators. Big floods for the night games at Soldier's Field. Little tiny flashlights for those books we read under the covers when we're supposed to be asleep. Light is more than watts and footcandles. Light is metaphor. We are doing a major purge, so I have been giving away and selling things for the past month.

This was a beaded purse that I crocheted- painstakingly adding one bead at a time - many years ago. I only used it a couple of times, but as it took so long to make, I hung onto it. In my decision to finally give it away, I thought I should at least photograph it first, in my way. Obviously, you can only see a small part of it here. An hour after this shot, someone came by and picked it up - I love the Free Stuff groups online :)

I have used an old German projector lens, A Rodenstock Splendar 100mm f2.8 photo: 3. I have mounted the lens on my modern Sony full-frame camera, It was a bit complicated to build an adapter.

I have used a 60 year old Soviet lens, a Helios-40, 85 mm f1.5 . The lens weighs 1kg.

This shot was made after the photo session with this subject of my mom's.

I was just getting my blouse off and with all that make-up and crazy hair I liked how I looked. :)) So I said I wanted photos like this.

The background is actually a texture. I never thought that I'll ever use it but I tried it on this photo and I really liked how it looked. :)
