The theme this week for the group Smile on Saturday is Bokeh in Monotone.
I actually read the theme earlier in the week and somehow thought that the theme was spring flowers in monotone. So I set out to get that shot. I did get one I would have been happy to use.
However, I always like to double-check when I plan to post to a themed group. When I did, I learned that I misread the theme and it is actually Bokeh in monotone. I probably could have used the spring flower shot because it has some bokeh.
However, it has more blur than bokeh. So, I am going with this shot since it has more bokeh than blur. I love the examples given that show the difference between bokeh and blur. The explanation was on point as well.
I just want to give a shout-out to Maria for hosting this group. She does an excellent job. The rules are simple and clear. She always explains the theme and gives wonderful examples.
Themed groups such as this are a great way to get out of your comfort zone and try something different. It's always nice to learn something new.

The tiny L train moves through a bokeh-filled, city streetscape.
Here I've used a Lensbaby Edge 50 mounted with the Composer Pro II to get that tilt-shift miniature style. What I like about optical tilt-shift vs. in-edit is that nice bokeh and blur!

For "smile on saturday" and "meadows and fields", my second choise.
Dear Maria, I think this photo is better for today's challenge, but in the previous photo it's me, the way I see the world, shallow dof, bokeh and blur. If you want I can change the photo.
This White-crowned Sparrow sat briefly on a good perch, giving me the opportunity to grab a few shots of him looking about. It stayed for a few days to fuel up before continuing on its journey to destinations further south.
Large aperture created a soft bokeh and blurred the spruce tree branches in the background to pleasing shade of green.

Getting down low on the frosty grass as the light streams in. Using my lensbaby to provide all that bokeh and blur
I was lying down trying to get a good photo of the frosty lawn one morning in June, when I pressed the shutter by mistake. But I found when checking the photo I liked the bokeh and blur produced by the Lensbaby and the sun in my eyes!!
