Lyrics
Have you stood by the ocean on a diamond-hard morning
And felt the horizon stir deep in your soul?
Watched the wake of a steamer as it cut thru blue water
And been gripped by a fever you just can't control?
O to throw off the shackles and fly with the seagulls
To where green waves tumble before a driving sea wind
Or to lie on the decking on a warm summer evening
Watch the red sun fall burning beneath the earth's rim
But to every sailor comes time to drop anchor
Haul in the sails and make the lines fast
You deep water dreamer, your journey is over
You're safe in the harbor at last
You're safe in the harbor at last
Some men are sailors, but most are just dreamers
Held fast by the anchors they forge in their minds
Who in their hearts know they'll never sail over deep water
To search for a treasure they're afraid they won't find
So in sheltered harbours they cling to their anchors
Bank dow their boilers & shut down their steam
And wait for the sailors to return with the bright treasures
That will fan the dull embers & fire up their dreams
But to every sailor comes time to drop anchor
Haul in the sails and make the lines fast
You deep water dreamer, your journey is over
You're safe in the harbor at last
You're safe in the harbor at last
And some men are schemers who laugh at the dreamers
Take the gold from the sailors & turn it to dross
They're men in a prison, they're men without vision
Whose only horizon is profit and loss
So when storm clouds come sailing across your blue ocean
Hold fast to your dreaming for all that you're worth
For as long as there's dreamers, there will always be sailors
Bringing back their bright treasures from the corners of earth
But to every sailor comes time to drop anchor
Haul in the sails and make the lines fast
You deep water dreamer, your journey is over
You're safe in the harbor at last
You're safe in the harbor at last

I found this photo again and was reminded of last summer's fabulous sunflower crop on Mr Bogle's farm! It was amazing!! This was only a small part of one field. This past summer though, he had NONE! The seed was very late germinating and never grew taller than about 18 inches. Last time I was past there, the blooms were like small yellow daisies :-( Better year next year, Mr Bogle! The birds are counting on you!!
Pittenweem is now the most active of the fishing ports in the East Neuk coast of Fife. Fishing boats jostle for position in its busy harbour and this is a lively vibrant place at any time of day. To add to the atmosphere, visitors can watch the fish market conducted in the sheds on the harbour each morning.
The harbour is a magnet for visitors. Photographers can take their pick between the brightly-hulled fishing boats or the jumble of red pantiled or grey slated houses. Pittenweem simply oozes charm. Along the harbourside are the local inns, which have served fishermen for generations and no doubt continue to do so. Many of the small houses in the village bare plaques showing that they have been restored by the National Trust for Scotland.

Depicting the deacon and activist Paul Bogle (1820 - 1865). In 1865 he lead a march and a rebellion asking justice and fair treatment for all the people in Jamaica. He was captured and hanged by the British authority. It is also depicted a doctor bird or swallowtail hummingbird (Trochilus Polytmus) that is endemic to Jamaica.

At least part of the Alyth & District Agricultural Show will be returning to Alyth this year, thanks to a grant from our Community Projects Fund.
The Show hasn’t been able to be in Alyth for several years due to lack of a suitable venue, and hasn’t taken place at all since 2019 due to the covid pandemic. When the Show Society decided to go ahead with an event this year, they made some changes to make the Show viable, one of which was to split the event into two.
The traditional Industrial Tent will now be replaced by a Root & Produce Show to be held in Alyth Town Hall in November. The grant from our Community Projects Fund will help towards the costs of hall hire, hall set-up, promotion and advertising. The Society also plans to buy some seeds and recipe packs to encourage people who may not be able to afford them to take part, along with small medals and trophies for young prize-winners
When I went on a whale watching trip on the weekend at Phillip Island, I knew there was a chance we would not see any whales, let alone see one breach! After a summer of feeding on krill in Antarctic waters, they migrate north to sub-tropical waters where they mate and give birth. They can be seen along the eastern Australian coast-line between April and November. Apparently, breaching is only observed in 5% of tours and only two breaches had been observed this whale watching season. It was my lucky day. I felt guilty watching it though my lens. Like many people, it is hard not be in awe of these majestic creatures and at the same time horror at the whaling industry. This Humpback whale was around 15 m in length. It is estimated that when the Australian east coast whaling industry ended in 1963, the east coast population of humpbacks had been reduced to a little over 100 individuals. The latest counts suggest around 20,000. Their recovery has contributed significantly to the rapid growth of Australia’s whale watching industry.
“The saddest sound I’ve ever heard
Is the song of the humped-back whale
His moans, his sighs, his eerie cries,
Sing a sad familiar tale
For he sighs and blows as if he knows
His race is nearly run
And that soon with all of his kind he’ll fall

And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
Eric Bogle
When I was a young man
I carried my pack
And I lived the free life of a rover
From the Murray's green basin
To the dusty outback
I waltzed my Matilda all over
Then in 1915, my country said son
It's time you stopped rambling, there's work to be done
So they gave me a tin hat and they gave me a gun
And they sent me away to the war
And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As we sailed away from the quay
And amidst all the cheers
The shouts and the tears
We sailed off for Gallipoli
How well I remember that terrible day
When the blood stained the sand and the water
And how in the hell that they called Suvla Bay
We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter
Johnny Turk, he was ready
He'd primed himself well
He showered us with bullets
And he rained us with shells
And in five minutes flat
He'd blown us all to hell
Nearly blew us right back
To Australia
And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As we stopped to bury our slain
We buried ours, and the Turks buried theirs
Then we started all over again

A portrait shot of me working hard scaring the crows away on the farm🎃😂 (according to my mates, hmm!!) Tattie Bogle & Craw Bogle are old Scots names for a scarecrow. My mates used to say I dressed like one & call me Craw 😳😂 Scarecrows, Tattie Bogle's & Craw Bogle's have competition now as scare canons and other high tech devices are taking over oor job's
Today's prompt was 'Boogers'.
As mydoghasnono.se says, different places have different words for the mucus that must be removed from our nostrils. In the US they may be Boogers, but in Scotland they are Bogles and the more liquid varieties are Snotters. This bloke is obviously an expert Bogle hunter.

The background is a Mountain T-shirt of mine, the design is called Foxglove, the artist is Collin Bogle.
From Trillium Lk... It bogles my mind to think of how many pictures of the mountain have been taken from this vantage point, but if you have a camera in your hands, you will take the shot! alw
These are Green Fields of France just outside Dinard in Brittany. Far different from the fields as described in the song 'No Man's Land' written in 1976 by Eric Bogle. It later became a huge hit for 'The Fureys & Davey Arthur' titled 'The Green Fields of France'. Some say it is probably the best anti-war song ever written. As soon as I saw this scene the song came to mind.
