The Boeing Collection
From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.
Air Canada Boeing 747 233B C-GAGA is seen here in original livery, taxiing for a 28L departure at London Heathrow. A Lufthansa Boeing 727 lurks behind in the queue. According to my log book, the aircraft was operating flight AC857.
I have to say I was not a huge fan of the Air Canada 747s as they were so regular at Heathrow. Without trying to offend anyone :) they were in that category of 'slightly boring' 747s that I would have included with the 747s of Air India, PIA, TWA, Pan Am, British Airways to name but a few. However, now in 2020, I MISS THEM ALL :) I captured this one for posterity as it was in the original livery, with that black 'bib', which I rather liked.
C-GAGA c/n 20977 Boeing 747-233B - was delivered new to Air Canada in March 1975, one of five that Air Canada flew in the 1970s along with C-FTOA-E. The aircraft flew almost its entire life with the airline, for over twenty years, with just a couple of leases out to Air National in 1983, and to Garuda Indonesia in 1993. In 1999 the aircraft was flown to Marana, Arizona for long-term storage, and was finally broken up around 2013.
Taken with a Soviet made Zenith E camera and 300mm lens. From an original slide, scanned and unrestored.

The Boeing 747 first flew nearly 50 years ago. But to see and hear one at close range, it's hard to argue against her still retaining her long-held title of "Queen of the Skies"
