Janmashtami is a festival that holds significant importance in all communities in our country. Toddlers of Bodakdev School too celebrated it, but this time was slightly different. They all were dressed in traditional Indian dresses and took part in the virtual celebrations. They witnessed the jhula or palna of baby Kanha and saw his gorgeous attire and the sweets that were placed in front of him. Teachers shared the stories around his birthing that are mentioned in the Bhagavata Purana. A small Matki Phod event also took place. Students clapped with joy on seeing the entire event. In the end, toddlers and their mothers took part in Dandiya Ras and danced on the beats of Gujarati music. The celebrations educated the toddlers about the life of Lord Krishna.

Visit to a Bank

Bodakdev School tries to enhance the knowledge of young children through regular field visits. Today morning young children of Junior KG and Senior KG visited Kalupur Commercial Co-op Bank. The Vice-principal Ms Amoli Patell accompanied them. They visited the different departments of the bank, which included a sneak peek into the lockers section. The educators showed passbooks and cheque books to give them a deeper understanding of the banking system. The young children also interacted with the Bank Manager, who gave them an overview of the different departments of the bank. The entire visit made our young children aware of the process of opening the bank accounts, filing of pay-in-slip to deposit money, withdrawal of money through cheque. The little ones were inquisitive to know how and from where the money is deposited in ATM and who refills the ATM machines. The entire visit on the financial system made the young children smarter and wiser.

Virtual celebrations took place in Bodakdev School as the school hosted several events for Independence Day. The toddlers in ECC were informed about the National Flag and in Nursery coloured the National Flag and took part in palm printing activities. The cherubs sang patriotic songs in their virtual classes. Young children of Junior KG took part in activities related to the National Symbols of India and Senior KG students prepared speeches on Freedom fighters and presented in their virtual classes. Apart from these activities, teachers shared stories of Indian Freedom Struggle and Unsung Heroes of our country. "What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candour, and more unashamed conversation." Glenn Close Ms Shivani Joshi, Vice-Principal Special Educator, conducted a virtual session for teachers of BSFC on mental health. She spoke on how crucial it is to take care of mental health too. Her session revolved around tips on positivity, self-care, self-love, handling stress during the pandemic. She also discussed different tools of meditation that can help adults to remove negative thoughts from their mind. Mr Manan Choksi, Executive Director of the school, addressed the teachers and advised them to daily have their "Me Time" The session ended after a Q& A round and resolve to concentrate on the positive aspects of life.

Young children of BSFC had fun in their virtual class as they all attempted to make lemonade with their teachers. What fun it was! They all tried to create the right mixture with lemon, salt, sugar and water. Some even added their favourite Cumin powder too. The entire session kept the kids and mums on toes as they wanted their lemonade to be perfect. This lemonade making session made them realise the taste differences, and in the end, the kiddos enjoyed their drink.
