Burlington Northern Railroad F45 6617 at Clyde, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Ordered by the GN, it was built and delivered to the BN in August 1970 ( c/n 36344 ) as 6617, retired August 1985, and is seen here in a state of disrepair, apparently. As I was cleaning the slide scan, I realized some of the "dirt" was actually oil, or some other material, looks like a blown oil seal or something around the air intake area ( vents on the roof behind the cab door ), and there are oil spots all over the sides.

Burlington Northern Railroad GP35 2581 at Galesburg, Illinois on June 6, 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in December 1965 as SLSF 731 ( c/n 31126 ) on EMD Order 7852, it is riding on Alco AAR Type B trucks from Frisco FA1 trade-in's.
