A Western Star 4800 Series barrels down Port Wakefield Road, past the Caltex service station at Bolivar. There's an interesting story behind this photo:
Most road trains close to Adelaide are found going along Port Wakefield Road, so I drove up there a bit until I got to a petrol station near Bolivar, which is a low-income area with not the best crime reputation, and stood near the road to get some shots.
At the time, I did not have my own digital SLR, and was using my uncle's $2000 Nikon D70. At first I wanted to check the shutter speed for the appropriate amount of blur, so I selected a random car going past (not a good choice, as I would discover a few minutes later) and ripped off a couple of shots. Seeing that this amount of blur at 1/50th second looked good, I deleted the photos of the car, and proceeded to start taking photos of trucks.
After about five minutes of taking pics, amid the noise of cars and trucks flying past, I became vaguely aware of someone calling something in my general direction. I looked over to see a white Camry, with a man of around 30 leaning out the window and yelling in my direction. I couldn't work out what he was saying, so I had to go closer. Here's the conversation that followed. The guy's tone was polite, but threatening/menacing at the same time, and he was wearing mirrored shades, so I couldn't see his eyes. There were three other people in the car, who looked to be in their late 20s or early 30s.
Guy: May I ask you what you're doing?
Me: Um, (I look down at the camera) taking photos of trucks for a magazine thing?
Guy: Well, do you have my permission?
Me: Your permission? For....? (I didn't click at first this was the same car I'd taken the couple of practice shots of, and I thought for a second he might own the service station or something) After a few moments of thinking I realised this was the car I'd taken my test shots a few minutes beforehand.
Me: Oh, you're that car I took a photo of going past...
Guy: Yeah. I want you to delete those photos.
Me: Oookay.....(since this was a dodgy area, I was outnumbered 4 to 1, and was holding a $2000 camera that wasn't mine, I played the situation safely, as tempting as it was to be a smartass to this tool.) So I picked up the camera and started looking at my pics on the screen, standing a couple of metres away from the car.
Guy: I want to *SEE* you delete them.
So I approached his open window cautiously, and turned the camera around to show him that the photos of his car weren't there. Not that it wouldn't be very easy to fake a delete anyway, by pressing the shutter button to make the screen go black.
Me: See, I deleted them before...they're not even there.
Guy: Yeah, ok. But you'd better delete those other photos you took without people's permission, or we'll call the cops on you!
Since I was considering that option myself, I was at a bit of a loss for words as he took off and drove back onto the highway. I wish now I'd taken another shot as he'd driven off, so I could have posted it all over the net in as many places as possible to make myself feel better.
My bet is that something dodgy was going on, like the car was stolen. The guy would have had to go around half a kilometre up the road, in a 100km/h zone, do a u-turn, come back to the service station, turn into it, and come around to question me. Pretty excessive for someone who thought *I* was doing something wrong.

No, this was not a newly discovered bulbul species, An olive-winged bulbul shaking off excess water after a refreshing dip in a forest stream.
Bird of the blur feather flocked alone.

This is what my world looks like when I remove my contact or glasses. Blurred Vision. I captured this to give a sample of what I see when things are natural in my world.

My weekend is a blur of Halloween parades, parties, a photo session, and trick-or-treating.
This was taken at my kids' school Halloween parade. If you look carefully, you can see kids parading their costumes in front of the parents.
I'll catch up on your streams when I can!
for macromondays where the topic is brush........ took a bunch of pictures but this one is the one that i liked best. wish i could tell you that the blur was intentional but like many serendipitous happenings it occurred just because i was asking my dear little P&S to focus too closely (and it thought i meant down at the base of the bristles).
I've submitted some photos to jpg magazine in the category of embrace the blur. Go forth and vote for my photo and help get it published. jpgmag.com/photos/18439
