The second full moon of October. Photographed early morning November 1. Once in a blue moon we have 2 full moons the same month and 13 instead of the usual 12 in a year. Sorry, I couldn't resist. According to Wikipedia: "The term has traditionally, in the Maine Farmer's Almanac, referred to an "extra" full moon, where a year which usually has 12 full moons has 13 instead. The "blue moon" reference is applied to the third full moon in a season with four full moons,] thus correcting the timing of the last month of a season that would have otherwise been expected too early. This happens every two to three years (seven times in the Metonic cycle of 19 years." IMG_5245
Looking forward to the blue moon, the second full moon in January 2018, as well as the Lunar Eclipse.
I hope the weather is as clear January 31 as it is tonight.
I am not professional artist, not even full time art student, just enthusiastic in trying to create works. For my learning, I will setup my first installation a month later. I feel very lonely now, could you render your supports and go my Event page and click me an ‘interested’ or ‘like’ to encourage me ?? I would appreciate very much !!

The almost full blue moon, from early this morning. I could become addicted.
I love the huge sky-view windows in this apartment.
As moon shots go this one is not brilliant at all , the detail is just not there , the craters are not showing and it is not a full full moon . A hasty grabbed shot last night only because of the colour which has been captured close to what is was as I was hanging out of a bedroom window to get a shot at least !
A rare moon it seems so I had to try and tonight is the full moon but probably it will be hiding behind cloud here !!
The deep colour I believe is due to the forest fires in the USA and the smoke /particles being carried over the Atlantic by the Jet Stream .
Each month has a full moon and August's is the Sturgeon Moon, also known as Grain Moon, Corn Moon, Lynx Moon and Lightning Moon. But as well as been a full moon it is a rare Blue Moon.
The Sturgeon Moon gets its name because of the large number of sturgeon fish which were found in the Great Lakes of North America as this time of the year. However its other names come from different cultures including many reflecting the fact it is harvesting season when crops are beginning to be gathered.
One English name for the August Full Moon is Corn Moon. The Anglo-Saxons also called it the Grain Moon, reports timeanddate.com.
The Celts called it Lynx Moon and Dispute Moon, pointing to the delicate balance of nature and harvest. Another English name is Lightning Moon, after Northern Europe’s more frequent thunder and lightning storms in late summer.
But it is also a Blue Moon. There are two definitions for a Blue Moon.
A seasonal Blue Moon is the third Full Moon of an astronomical season with four Full Moons. A monthly Blue Moon is the second Full Moon in a calendar month with two Full Moons.
The Blue Moon on August 19 is a seasonal Blue Moon. After this, you have to wait until May 31, 2026 for a monthly Blue Moon.
The rising sun gently strokes the tree tops with the warmth of day, whilst the moon still lingers in the lightening sky, reluctant to relinquish her dominion of the land.
A blue moon is generally accepted to be when two full moons occur in a calendar month, which happens about every two and a half years. Yet in the past, if four moons occurred in a season (which was normally three), the third one would be called a blue moon. There are many other names and meanings for moons at different times such as "a hunter's moon" or a betrayer's moon.
We have had two full moons this year, an even more rare occurrence which won't happen again for another nineteen years. Stranger still is that February didn't have a full moon at all, a one in thirty year phenomenon.
On parle de lune bleue lorsque la pleine lune apparaît pour la deuxième fois dans le même mois, ici le 31 octobre 2020. Rien à voir avec sa couleur.
A blue moon is when the full moon appears for the second time in the same month, here on October 31, 2020. Nothing to do with the color.
Our little Baily, went out one night a few months ago and never returned, along with his brother Taz,
OK, ya gotta' have some fun every now and then.. Anyone who knows me knows I do not use PS very often. Actually I never use it for general photography. This image is an exception. I had to 'enhance' the moon so you could see the surface.. This is not possible to get in a regular photograph (see the first shot). It actually came out fine in print.
La luna vino a la fragua
con su polisón de nardos.
El niño la mira mira.
El niño la está mirando.
En el aire conmovido
mueve la luna sus brazos
y enseña, lúbrica y pura,
sus senos de duro estaño.
Huye luna, luna, luna.
Si vinieran los gitanos,
harían con tu corazón
collares y anillos blancos.
Niño déjame que baile.
Cuando vengan los gitanos,
te encontrarán sobre el yunque
con los ojillos cerrados.
Huye luna, luna, luna,
que ya siento sus caballos.
Niño déjame, no pises,
mi blancor almidonado.
El jinete se acercaba
tocando el tambor del llano.
Dentro de la fragua el niño,
tiene los ojos cerrados.
Por el olivar venían,
bronce y sueño, los gitanos.
Las cabezas levantadas
y los ojos entornados.
¡Cómo canta la zumaya,
ay como canta en el árbol!
Por el cielo va la luna
con el niño de la mano.
Dentro de la fragua lloran,
dando gritos, los gitanos.
El aire la vela, vela.
el aire la está velando.

There are two types of blue moons: seasonal and monthly. This Monday, August 19, 2024, we will witness the seasonal Blue Moon. The seasonal blue moon occurs when four full moons are in a single astronomically defined season. It can happen in any season (in this case, summer).
Astronomically, summer begins on June 20 or 21 with the summer solstice, marking the most extended daylight of the year, and ends on September 22 or 23 with the autumnal equinox, when day and night are of equal length.
The full moons occurring in 2024 during this astronomically defined summer are as follows:
June 21, 2024
July 21, 2024
August 19, 2024
September 17, 2024
The third full moon among the four is called the blue moon.
Seasonal blue moons always occur almost exactly one month before an equinox or a solstice. The next seasonal blue moon will be on Aug. 21, 2032.
Other names reported for tonight's moon are the Sturgeon Moon, the Red, Corn, Green Corn, Barley, Herb, Grain, or Dog Moon.
The photo was taken using a multiple-exposure technique.

Nadir Görülen Mevsimsel Mavi Ay
İki tür mavi ay vardır: mevsimsel ve aylık. 19 Ağustos 2024 Pazartesi günü mevsimsel Mavi Ay'a tanık olacağız.
