Viewed from Belmont Plateau late on a winter afternoon.
An aircraft, probably a passenger jet, was caught near the middle of the photo apparently aimed at the office towers. No accidents were reported. The altitude looks quite low. Probably just took off from Philadelphia International Airport.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana, headquartered in Helena, is moving from this downtown building to land near the Helena airport.
Helena and Lewis and Clark County staff are now recommending that the city and county buy all of a former Blue Cross and Blue Shield property in downtown Helena.
The city and county commissions have already agreed to lease, then purchase part of the property on Fuller Avenue. It will serve as the Law and Justice Center, a new home for the Helena Police Department and Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Department 207
Yes, the same as the elf in Harry Potter. We met him out with his owner today in the Forest. Dobby has health issues which include problems with his paws, hence the shoes. However, he was a wonderful sweet natured boy with a lovely caring owner

I took this through a window in the Chicago Cultural Center which has a great view of Millennium Park. This is the northwest corner of Millennium Park known as Wrigley Square.
Bella loves playing with bags.
Rather than having her play with the ones I use for my food shopping, I've decided she can have this tote sold in aid of the Blue Cross, a charity that provides veterinary care for pets.

Perhaps one of the more popular meet up spots in Chicago, this curious reflective spaceship draws all manner of people at all hours. Thus, it is quite a challenge to get a photo without the typical families, kids, selfie shooting iPhoners and such. I set up my camera on the tripod and fired the shutter every 30 sec or so for a few minutes, hoping people that were in motion would eventually move around in the scene. Then I stacked all the layers and "erased" most of them using a subtractive blending technique, which worked fairly well.
Lens is the Sigma 8-16mm. I also applied some sensor shift correction in camera to reduce the converging verticals a bit, though it makes no sense in such a wide shot to attempt to eliminate the distortion completely. The buildings seen in the reflection on the bean are along Michigan Ave and have some strong orange sodium vapor lighting. Perhaps in a couple more years, all of these night-orange buildings will get LED lighting and look truer in the city scape.
More to come. Hope you like this.

This was the last set of shots taken with the Zeiss Loxia f2/50mm. I want to thank Zeiss for loaning me their wonderful new lenses for a few weeks.
This skyline has been in my photo stream repeatedly as it has so much detail and is a good test for a lens & camera's ability for objects at infinity. Putting the mumbo-jumbo aside, this evening's capture turns out to be my favorite for several reasons...
Storms were brewing on the western horizon above the city creating a halo and throwing back at its own light upon itself. Small, unobtrusive reflection of the city off the lake surface. The shrubs and grass are no longer gray along the shoreline as they were for the last 8 months; now, they're a nice rich green. Mid-frame, one might see Buckingham Fountain going full blast - an unexpected surprise. My fingers never went numb due to cold. Lastly, multiple buildings show their support for the cure of Huntington's Disease.
“Cyberspace. A consensual hallucination experienced daily by billions of legitimate operators, in every nation, by children being taught mathematical concepts... A graphic representation of data abstracted from banks of every computer in the human system. Unthinkable complexity. Lines of light ranged in the nonspace of the mind, clusters and constellations of data. Like city lights, receding...”

My beautiful boy Lenny that we rescued from the Blue Cross. He was found on the streets at 8 months old and was due to be put down by the dog warden. He’s a wonderfully sweet natured thing, with a streak of cheekiness and moments of seemingly endless energy. I can’t imagine not having him. Taken on my Canon 250D
The Chicago Blackhawks managed to squeeze out another win this evening. Lately, Wednesday nights have been fairly popular down on the pier of the planetarium where people watch the fireworks across Lake Michigan at Navy Pier.
With every win, the city becomes more adorned with hawk-ware. Since just last week, many of the buildings antennae have been lit by red hues. While the new "Go Hawks" was a nice touch, the CNA building leaving their lights on to create a mosaic of a blackhawk jersey visage, really stole the skyline.
Good luck guys, two more to go!
Yesterday morning began with some dense fog along the lakeshore. Here, the Aqua Tower and surrounding buildings are lost in the clouds.

I love the Lakeshore East area, I think it is such a great design with the sunken park and the skyrises that surround it. The sky was uneventful for me on this night, so I converted this to just show off the details of the buildings.

Wishing everyone out there in the Flickr community a happy and safe holidays from Chicago. May all enjoy peace and prosperity in the coming New Year - we surely need both!
The last in this series of skyline photos dedicated to the Chicago Cubs and their win of the World Series.
It has been a crazy day in the city as 5 million people came in for today's parade to celebrate the team's victory on Wednesday over the Cleveland Indians - what a series of games!
The wind was relatively still this evening making for a great reflection and hopefully doubling as a foreshadowing of a calm weekend ahead - the city has been on edge quite a bit with the whole baseball series.
Enjoy!
Finally got a play mate for Chloe. This fella is called Tyrell and we got him from a rescue centre after a lady found him being tortured by kids. You can see a white blob in his right eye where they were poking him in the eye with something sharp. Grrrr.....
He only just managed to pull through and we had to wait quite a while until he was well enough to have his VHD jab so we could take him home.
He's a goofy fella and a little nervous around people, which is to be expected I guess. He's all skin and bone at the moment so we're trying to bulk him up a little.
If anyone knows what breed he is please let me know! Cheers!
Divvy is a bicycle sharing system located in the City of Chicago. It operates 4760 bicycles at 476 stations in an area bounded by 75th Street on the south, Touhy Avenue on the north, Lake Michigan on the east, and Pulaski Road on the west. It launched on June 28, 2013 with 750 bikes at 75 stations operating in an area spanning from the Loop north to Berwyn Ave, west to Kedzie Ave, and south to 59th St.

So happy for many so many friends and family here in Chicago where there has been a lifetime (literally) wait for this year's world series. Chicago really has one of the most beautiful skylines - ever changing.
There was a fairly strong wind from the north that gave some good movement to the clouds and stuff all the mini-icebergs in Lake Michigan to the south side of the little bay area in front of Shedd Aquarium - which is the vantage point of this shot. It looks like Lake Shore Drive has all green lights, vroom vroom!
It is also interesting to note the differences between the old sodium lamps with their reddish hue in much of the city versus the whiter/bluer LED lamps up and down the walkway of the lake. There is a sodium lamp just outside the frame on the lower right which really got that corner's ice floating in the water to brighten up.
Enjoy!
