Offset to one side this Block in Cinder is quite elegant and simple. The legs have been cut to allow for a tv over top. With a mantel depth of 6" this provides plenty of protection from heat of the fireplace.

I’m hoping this is cinema film related and not an election poster advertising some rather violent characters in this rather rich tapestry of life - and death.
Strange but each (male) character seems to sport exactly the same style of moustache, almost as if they have been added in post processing.

For her block in A Quilting Journey Round Robin Bee Cindy's inspiration block was a tradtional block with some appliqué featuring soft colours.
This block is "Rose Trellis" from "Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 1." I used Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree Fabrics for Moda. I have never used Fig Tree fabrics before and I had thought that they weren't my style (not modern enough.) However, the colours and prints are so pretty that I think I will have to make a quilt out of them some day. I love the vintage scrappiness of this block.
For her month in Bee Unique Bee Knotty Nancy sent a piece of Christmas fabric (the green fabric in the centre of the block) and asked for any kind of pieced Christmas block.
After making this block I was on a paper-piecing kick. This block is "Sunblock" from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 3. I think that it looks like a Christmas flower.

Taken with a Hasselblad 500c/m, using a 80mm Zeiss Sonnar to an Aptus 22 back.
It was driving me nuts how wonky the first one was. So I made it again. It looks oh so much better now. The new one is on the left ... it's so much neater now. :-) Okay, now I feel confident that I can move forward to another part of the quilt.
Wild Olive provided the free EPP pattern for this cross. I've made a few more since this one and have discovered that I LOVE EPP.

a slight road block on the way to Orchha, India
I've just returned from traveling 20 days through Northern India and have begun diving into the multitudes of photos that I shot. Words cannot describe the experiences that I had. India was absolutely unlike anywhere I've ever visited. The extreme congestion of people, the dirt, the filth, the nonstop blaring horns, the reckless drivers, the staggering contrast between wealth and absolute poverty and misery.
I was overwhelmed by the people of India. I was amazed at their kindness, curiosity, and an almost sort of innocence. India was an extreme overload of the senses, to say the least. I approached my photography a little differently on this trip. Instead of trying to take photos of India, I wanted to take photos about India. I hope my work is able to show what I mean.
The self-guided audio tour was awesome! It was amazing the number of stories--murder, failed escapes, successful escapes, riots--that have happened in this building!
The last piece can be difficult, depending on how well you measured and fitted the previous 5 sides. Once I knew it would fit right, I super glued the edges (hot glue-welding the final plate is not possible) and slathered some hot glue over the cardboard. I set the block so this last piece was on the table (covered with paraffin paper, of course) and set a few weights on it. By the way; I made sure that the final plate was the actual bottom of the block, as that's the side not seen as often. Though it did turn out very well, anyways. Not bad for my first 3D perler creation. Stay tuned for my Companion Cube and Minecraft lit Jack-o-Lantern pics.
A poststamp layout basically, made into (french) braids by setting it on point and color-selection. (Not really in the values...)
Ceramic tiles, glass gems and stones. Very happy with how this looks. May put a coating of varnish over the wood areas. Still a bit more cleaning but spent all afternooon grouting the ball and stand and this so having a break until tomorrow!
This is my second attempt at block printing. I designed this image using my iPad. I used ToonPaint to alter a photo that I took in my backyard. I then cleaned it up and altered the composition a bit with Sketch Club. I then streamed the image to my 3M projector flipping the image horizontally in the projector and projecting it onto the plate. I traced the image with a fine tip Sharpie pen. Some trial blocks for the Christmas table runner swap - what do you think partner, do you like where I'm going with this? Each tree is different - some wonky, some not and I envisage them side by side on the runner - there are more & different blocks to come. I know they're all different sizes - don't worry, I have a plan for that! I'm feeling my way with this one partner so let me know!
