Introduced, warm-season, annual or biennial, trailing and twining legume. Leaves have 3 large (7-15 cm long) rounded leaflets with short hairs on the underside. Flowerheads are racemes of white, blue or purple
pea-like flowers, which form curved, broad and flattened pods that are 4-5 cm long. Flowering is in summer and autumn. A native of Africa, it is sown as summer forage or as
a green manure crop. It is suited to well-drained soils with a pHCa more than 4.2; although it is tolerant of short periods of
flooding. Very sensitive to salinity. A non-bloating, high quality forage. Leaves are
highly palatable, but not the stems. Usually higher yielding, more tolerant of grazing and
has better root disease resistance than cowpeas. When used as a green manure crop it increases soil fertility and supplies good quantities of nitrogen. Up to 3 harvests are possible from annual types, but
they will not withstand heavy grazing of the stems. Rotationally graze for best production and persistence. Best regrowth is achieved if grazing is delayed until flowering and stock are removed as soon as the leafy portion of the plants has been
eaten and a framework of stems still remains.

Diastasis recti is a common condition that can occur during pregnancy and even extend postpartum. DR affects women and men in different ways and during different stages of their lives.
Pregnancy puts a lot of pressure and stress on the core musculature of the abdominal wall. A diastasis recti most commonly occurs due to extended, focalized pressure upon the abdominal wall which weakens the structural integrity of your rectus abdominis muscles (6-pack).This can prevent the muscles from maintaining their shape and, postpartum, you may discover that there is a gap in between your abdominal muscles.
This gap typically creates a slight or significant bulge in the center of your abdomen: a belly “pooch,” as many call it. This gap and bulge can result in a host of varying symptoms. These may range from back/pelvic pain, poor posture, incontinence, pain with intercourse, constipation, bloating, and more significantly a weakening of your stomach muscles and pelvic floor.
There are, however, many ways to help lower the risk of developing a diastasis recti during or after your pregnancy. Although you can’t change the pressure within your abdomen – you’re pregnant – there are a few things you can change. Having a regiment that focuses on good posture, functional moving in daily activity, strengthening your transverse abdominis (your lower abs) and pelvic floor, and eliminating movements and exercises that may make it worse helps lower the risk of a diastasis and aids in postpartum rehab.
Rectus Abdominis Separation is Natural
During pregnancy, the abdominal wall will stretch and separate. Rectus abdominis separation that does not correct on its own (postpartum) is called diastasis recti. 70%-100% of all women will experience abdominal muscle separation during their pregnancy and roughly ⅔ of all pregnant women will have developed diastasis recti postpartum.
Although the muscles tend to return to their natural state, some studies have shown that some women with diastasis recti struggle to close their gap a year postpartum.
When the abdominals separate like this, the uterus, bowels, and other organs have only a thin band of connective tissue (the linea alba) to hold them in place. Although the muscles tend to return to their natural state, some studies have shown that some women with diastasis recti struggle to close their gap a year postpartum. However, there are many things you can do to help prevent and restore your body from diastasis recti.

Dos and Don’ts
During your pregnancy there are many things that you should try to practice and others that you should try to avoid. While carrying your little one, whether it is your first time or your fourth, here are a few things to do and not do.
Dos
Be Careful with Exercise:
We highly encourage exercise and stretching during your pregnancy. However, it is important that you are careful with how you approach various exercise routines while pregnant. Exercises like: crunches, sit-ups, pushups, press-ups, and front planks, can make abdominal separation worse. Talk to a specialist or consider looking at My program for women: One Strong Mama.
Strengthen Your Transverse Abdominis Muscles:
This can be done through proper breathing techniques. Your transverse abdominal muscles help hold your baby in place and assist you in a vaginal delivery. To learn more about exercises to aid you, click here.
Correct Your Posture:
Having good posture greatly aids you in limiting the amount of pressure and tension you add to your core during everyday tasks or even while sitting. As you move daily –whether exercising or at work – you will want to practice working functionally with your diastasis recti. Anytime you bend, lift, twist, etc. think about tightening your transverse abdominis muscles. This reduces the strain your child’s added weight places on your linea alba and can also help reduce back and pelvic pain.
Stretch:
This may go without saying, but as you are moving about and taking on your daily tasks, your muscles will inevitably be strained, sore, or tired at the end of your day. Stretching appropriately and safely can help keep your body functional and reduce and muscles strains or soreness you may be experiencing.
Don’ts
Strain Yourself:
While lifting heavy objects be sure to implement correct posture and be mindful of your core. You should avoid doing any exercises or activities that may negatively strain your core. This can involve the way in which you stand or sit, your bowel movements, and/or any exercises that would normally be okay. Especially when getting out of bed. Try to roll onto your side when rising from a laying down position in order to take the strain off of your linea alba.
Exercises That Add Tension to Your Core Muscles:
Many exercises to avoid during your pregnancy include exercises such as:loaded spinal flexion (crunches), sit-ups, and push-ups. A lot of exercises that are high intensity are likely best avoided as well.
Exercises to Avoid
There are several daily motions and exercises that someone with diastasis recti should avoid. If you have diastasis recti or abdominal separation, you want to avoid adding any additional pressure to your midline. A few exercises of motions to avoid if you have diastasis rect
Most Crunches or Sit-Ups
Full Push Ups (they can strain the abdominal muscles)
Any exercises that could cause your core wall to bulge.
Helpful Diastasis Recti Care Tips
There are many sites and programs that offer many helpful tips and tricks for you as you walk through your pregnancy. On our homepage we offer many varying programs, like One Strong Mama, and exercises tips for you to consider during your pregnancy and postpartum. Below is a taste of what those programs have to offer.
During Pregnancy
Prehab
One of the best things you can do during pregnancy is prehab. I have many long term clients who were able to prevent their diastasis recti from returning with subsequent pregnancies by working their core in a smart, functional way the entirety of their pregnancy. Many report that their core felt stronger than ever with the prehab work that they did. Pregnancy is not an illness, there is no need to halt all exercise. We do, however, want to make good exercise choices. It is very important to exercise your core during pregnancy but not to increase intra ab pressure as you do so.
Our online prehab program, One Strong Mama, is designed to prepare your body for the unique demands of pregnancy, birth, and recovery. Everything you need to prepare your body can be found in this program which combines functional exercise, strength training, posture and alignment instruction, and even key educational tools so that you are given a chance to enjoy your pregnancy without stressing over it.

Postpartum
Diastasis recti is often more apparent postpartum. I usually recommend waiting at least 6 to 12 weeks before checking for a diastasis recti. Here are a few tips that can help prevent and/or heal a diastasis recti.
Rest
If I could have a dollar for every mom who wished she had rested more in order to spare herself injury. Rest is so important for healing your body postpartum and ensuring that you do not damage your core and your pelvic floor. We recommend getting back into exercise at least 6 weeks postpartum, but even then, easing into it is key. The “I want to get my body back” sentiment can be very harmful to a recovering body.
Exercise/Rehab
Once you are cleared for exercise by your medical professional, you want to focus on core building exercises which properly strengthen your core without aiding in diastasis recti development. My program Restore Your Core is designed for any woman with core issues such as: postpartum issues, diastasis recti, incontinence, and constant back pain.
Restore Your Core is designed so that you can use helpful and intelligent core building strategies not only during exercise, but in everyday motion. I help you approach healing and restoring your body in a personal way. I challenge you to train your whole body to move correctly in order to get you stronger and heal properly.
If you have diastasis recti, avoid flat belly programs and focus on function over form. The purpose of these exercises is to strengthen and rebuild your core. Find comfortable movements that prevent your stomach from pushing out and practice proper breathing techniques. The goal is for healing and function–not aesthetics.

How To Relieve Bloating in 4 Easy ways ift.tt/19ZnDKf Bloating can really put a sour note on your day. You don't feel good, your clothes don't fit right and the side effects can be a little embarrassing. However, there are some things you can do to ease the discomfort you feel while bloated. First, it's important to understand where bloating stems from so you can alter your habits accordingly. If bloating still occurs, there are some easy tips and tricks you can follow in order to reduce your symptoms. How To Relieve Bloating - COMMON CAUSES OF BLOATING Bloating can be caused by a wide variety of factors. In some cases, it's a medical condition or emotional state that you can't help. In other situations, it could be from the foods you're eating. Here's a list of the top causes of bloating to help you understand where this condition stems from: Acute conditions: Problems in the gastrointestinal area, like an infection or blockage, may also lead to bloating. Premenstrual syndrome: Many women experience bloating during PMS due to increased water retention. Smoking: The increased air intake that occurs while smoking cigarettes can lead to bloating. Stress: Hormonal changes due to stress may cause some bloating. Also, stress can sometimes lead to poor digestion which can also lead to bloating. Poor food choices: Some foods are more likely to lead to gas and bloating. Eating healthy is not a sure-fire fix since even some healthy foods can cause bloating. 4 TIPS FOR REDUCING BLOATING How To Relieve Bloating - Avoid belly-bloating foods You should either avoid these foods altogether or eat them in limited amounts: Excess carbohydrates: Eating too many carbs can lead to unnecessary water retention, which leads to bloating. Raw veggies: Many veggies are known to cause gas when eaten raw, especially cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, peppers, onions and Brussels sprouts. Simply cook your veggies instead - the nutritional value is equal to that of raw veggies. Spicy foods: The spicier a meal is, the more stomach acid it will trigger, which leads to bloating and irritation. Fatty foods: Foods with a lot of fats, especially fried foods, cause bloating because they are digested very slowly. Pick foods with monounsaturated fatty acids instead, like walnuts, sunflower seeds and avocados. Salt: Avoid foods with too much salt, including processed foods, whenever possible. The sodium attracts water, which causes the body to retain fluids. Carbonated drinks: The air bubbles in caffeinated drinks like soda end up in your belly. Acidic drinks: Fruit juice, coffee and alcohol each have a high acid content which can cause swelling in the gastrointestinal tract. Chewing gum: You swallow air as you chew gum, which causes bloating. How To Relieve Bloating - Eat bloat-busting foods instead These are the top dietary changes you should make in order to prevent bloating: Fiber: Your digestive system will be much more efficient with enough fiber in your diet, which in turn decreases the likelihood of bloating. High-fiber foods include bran cereals, blueberries, peas and lentils. Carminative herbs: Herbs like peppermint, chamomile, fennel and ginger are all great for reducing gas. You can eat foods with these ingredients or drink them as a tea. Water: Despite the fact that bloating is often due to water retention, drinking more water helps to flush out the system and reduce bloating. How To Relieve Bloating - Change your habits There are a few simple changes you can make to your daily routine to prevent bloating before it happens: Exercise more: Even just a short, brisk walk each day can reduce bloating because the activity helps the digestive tract process gas more quickly. Eat slowly: When you eat too quickly or while talking, you're more likely to take in excess air, which can turn into a bloated belly. Slow down while you eat and always close your mouth while chewing. Don't use straws: Drinking with a straw can also cause excess air intake and bloating. Check your meds: Some prescriptions and supplements contain carbonate or bicarbonate, both of which can cause bloating. Ask your doctor about these side effects and how to prevent them. Belch more: Though it may seem a little crass, a few stealthy burps can help get rid of excess gas from your stomach. How To Relieve Bloating - Natural Remedies for Bloating Even with these lifestyle and dietary changes, you may still experience bloating once in a while. Here is our Number 1 recommended remedy for bloating BROWTOL Finally, if your bloating is severe or chronic, you should see a doctor as this could be a sign of a more serious condition. Lisette continues to recover from her bloating episode at 14.5 yrs. old which happened one week ago today. She knows she is lucky to be alive. Took this image for the 52 weeks challenge, framing, using the top of an Indonesian stool (laid on its side) as framing. Added the glasses because its Feb. But Lisette was not feeling like being my model, still a bit under the weather, wanting only to be by my side and cuddle up. So I did a very abbreviated photo shoot, as she had no energy for anything else. Then I liked this image, as it captures something about our/her situation. Lisette continues to get stronger each day, and to be so happy to be alive.
I'm not sure how much longer she has but am treasuring every day.
BTW bloat is such a crummy ailment for big dogs. I thought I knew all about it, but there is always more to learn. Her vet in Key Largo saved her life. We also have a vet in Miami where we spend time. Great vets, but busy practice, and checking in with this practice this week, we were informed they could not deal with bloat and would refer us, even in the middle of the day, to the very expensive animal hospital nearby. Good to know and to have a plan of action. But eye opening to see that many regular vets are not set up to deal with bloat, and that those of us with dogs at risk for bloat should always have in mind a plan of action. At Lisette's age it does not make sense to me to do surgery, and so even an X-ray to see if the stomach has twisted is unnecessary. Either a vet can get down a stomach tube (in which case the stomach has not yet twisted) and do lovage, or there is no hope other than surgery, in the cases where that makes sense. So thought I'd share my experience for those of you with dogs at risk.

Here we are at the golden corral and there is not a speck of beef left. I refused to completely give up on the autumn that already packed its bag and left for climates warmer than the St.Vrain Valley, taking with it our glorious season. The foliage is pretty crusty here. The bare row of shrubs between the posts (not Boy George) is the line of chokecherry bushes I never even got to this year; maybe next year. I was on a quest to shoot some windows shots to celebrate MurkySoft announcing Windows #8 and leaving us with a screwed and dangerous #7. What are the odds they fixed something instead of bloating an OS that only Atlas would shoulder? Are they resolved to never fix their crap OSes?
Again, there was a blank sky that was less than inspiring on this day. I found one more bold shot toward the creek and its spread of natural vegetation. This last autumn pass mostly consisted of keeping the foliage out of the frame but there was still a bold shot here. I am still not willing to let this autumn slip away and I made another pass the other day. I got a couple of shots of the foliage that was still deteriorating.
I am once more, out here at Broley, the Boulder County greenbelt investments in mosquito breeding. The bold sky is gone, the rippling water gone, the bold clouds gone, my favorite foliage, gone or brown and most cattails seeding the next year's supply. I shot few pictures and kept the sky out of the frame. The colorful autumn foliage remains in this sheltered location.
Been trying to pop into second life the past few days. I missed it more than I thought I did. Took a quick pic. Sorry for how icky it looks, I was on the lowest graphic setting and I didn't bother playing with lighting, plus lazy with my editing. I have to do a real photoshoot soon, ultra, with dof and shadows etc…
This move sucks so much for my hobbies. I have so little time, nothing is unpacked except living essentials and baby toys… and I have to try and squeeze in time for hobbies here and there at night PLUS trying to continue studying without someon helping me structure my lessons/time.
AND pregnancy fatigue/bloating/mental fuzziness…
I just feel like shit, like I have no life. I did not feel like this before the move. I guess because nothing is unpacked I don't feel like I'm at home. It feels like I've been living in a strange hotel for a month.
I'm really hoping that this weekend unpacking can get done.
Note: my offer still stands to help guide people in starting to play with second life -sl is free to play btw- (in the "dolly photography" way, I know nothing about the social and gaming aspects). So if you are interested in getting into this and want help, I can help you the same way my friend did for me a few months ago. Just don't pick a screen name that starts with N, lol. There's a feature in second life where it is easier on friends if they have usernames that start with different letters. I'll explain later if you get on.
Oh and as always my SL related stream is here: www.flickr.com/photos/pixelminx/
Especially look at this set, if you want to fall in love: www.flickr.com/photos/pixelminx/sets/72157631969488676/

Overview
Listening to a little one crying is amongst the annoying occurrences that comes with parenthood, particularly if your little one tends to cry a whole lot. Your total house can become sleep deprived and you uncover by yourself pondering if your little one is in soreness. The little one crying sound is distressing and if you listen to a little one crying all the time, your tolerance can be tested.
Slumber deprivation does not support either and you can conclude up contemplating the predicament is even worse than it in fact is. It is not all undesirable information however due to the fact you can understand how to end little one crying when you recognize some of the factors that can lead to your little one to cry.
Is Your Little one Sick?
If your little one has a fever or a fever, is enduring either vomiting or diarrhea, your little one could be sick. A sick little one will be vulnerable to extended crying due to the fact they come to feel upset and unwell. The crying is a sign that all is not right and you should minimize their fever and/or find tips from your medical professional or overall health employee to take care of the vomiting or diarrhea as each of the problems will lead to a little one to become dehydrated quite speedily.
Feeding
Often you will uncover your little one crying soon after feeding and this normally transpires if they ended up frantically hungry and gulped down a whole lot of air along with their milk. The bloating can make a little one feel quite uncomfortable and they cry as a consequence. This is why babies need to be burped right soon after you have fed them. Just keep your little one upright towards your shoulder and carefully pat or rub their back right up until you listen to a satisfied burp.
Sleeping
It is also completely typical to uncover your little one crying in slumber. No, they are not hungry when this transpires and it is normally because something has frightened them. Probably they have experienced the equivalent of a bad dream and crying even though they are asleep is a natural reaction for a little one when this transpires. Most of the time they will not even wake up, but if they do, it is always a good notion to be on hand to relaxl and soothe them with your existence just before it develops into a complete blown, uncontrollable crying outburst.
New child Babies

The Amazing Benefits of Turmeric
Belonging to the ginger family, turmeric is often referred to as the “Queen of Spices,” having been used in India and the Middle East for thousands of years. Besides lending a peppery flavor to foods, turmeric has also been used for medicinal purposes in Ayurvedic and Chinese medication.
The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric are the main reason the plant was used to treat a wide variety of conditions, such as skin, health, and beauty problems. Moreover, turmeric is rich in anti-carcinogenic, anti-viral, anti-mutagenic, and anti-bacterial properties.
Anti Inflammatory Properties
Numerous studies have confirmed the anti inflammatory properties of turmeric, which are the result of curcumin, the pigment that gives turmeric its mustard color. This compound has been shown to influence hundreds of human genes and curcumin can be of help in the following conditions that are characterized by chronic inflammation.
Chronic and Acute Inflammation
To use turmeric for chronic and acute inflammation, all that is needed is to mix it with a little water and apply it to the inflamed area. Some of the symptoms of inflammation include aching, stiffness, distress, and more. People with chronic inflammation are more at risk of developing heart disease and stroke, according to scientists at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
Here are some of the most common conditions that have inflammation as one of their symptoms:
• Rheumatoid arthritis – this affliction causes inflammation in the joints and the tissues that surround them. At times, inflammation of other organs in the body may occur.
• Crohn’s disease – in this case, the inflammation occurs at the level of the gastrointestinal tract, most commonly in the small intestine.
• Celiac disease – symptoms include the inflammation and destruction of the small intestine’s inner lining.
• Psoriasis – inflammation occurs at skin level, but can also be sometimes noticed in the tissue that surrounds the joints.
• Graves’ disease – goiter is one of the main signs of this disease, which means that the thyroid gland gets inflamed. The tissue behind the eyes gets inflamed in this disease, which makes the eyes protrude in exophthalmia. Dermopathy is another sign of Grave’s disease and it an be recognized by inflammation of the skin on the top of the feet and shins, which tend to become puffy and red.
• Lupus – this disease causes inflammation in the lungs, heart, joints, skin, and kidney.
• Type 1 Diabetes – when diabetes is not treated and controlled, inflammation may occur in various parts of the body.
• Allergies – multiple types of allergies have inflammation as a symptom. For example, hay fever causes inflammation of the nose and asthma has inflammation of the airways as a symptom.
The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric are so powerful that they match those of some anti-inflammatory drugs, according to a study published in Alternative Medicine Review in 2009. Another study published in 2003 in the Journal of Alternative Complementary Medicine concluded that the safety of curcumin has been demonstrated safe in six human trials.
The Role of Turmeric as an Antioxidant
The main function of antioxidants is to protect the human body from free radicals, and the chemical structure of turmeric makes it a powerful antioxidant, according to a study published in the “Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology” in 2007. Besides being an antioxidant in itself, curcumin can also boost the body’s own antioxidant enzymes.
The benefits of antioxidants include protection against a number of degenerative diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, arthritis, and more. Not all antioxidants have the same effect, but turmeric has the capacity to block free radicals directly and stimulates the antioxidant mechanisms of the body subsequently.
Turmeric and Arthritis
Using turmeric in cases of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis leads to the reduction of pain, stiffness and inflammation, according to an article published in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine in 2004. This effect is related to the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in turmeric, so consuming the plant on a regular basis results in less pain and joint inflammation.
Turmeric and Depression
Depression is one of the most common modern psychological afflictions and the curcumin in turmeric can fight against it in multiple ways. First, curcumin increases the level of neurothropic factors that contribute to the growth and survival of the nerve cells. Next, it fights against inflammatory and oxidative responses that depression is known to generate. Finally, curcumin can modulate the level of neurotransmitters in the human brain.
A controlled trial documented in the 2014 study “Efficacy and safety of curcumin in major depressive disorder: a randomized controlled trial” showed that the effects of curcumin on patients with depression were similar to those generated by Prozac.
Turmeric as a Natural Antibacterial and Antiseptic Agent
Turmeric has been demonstrated to act as an efficient disinfectant, which can also help repair damaged skin and has healing properties for those suffering from psoriasis. By applying turmeric on a cut or a burn, the healing process can be accelerated.
Turmeric as an Aid in Improving Digestion
Besides its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric is also highly valuable for its influence on the digestive system and the liver. By incorporating turmeric into foods, you can reduce gas and bloating and improve digestion. Moreover, turmeric is also known for stimulating bile production and stimulating its excretion via the gallbladder, which results in the improvement of the body’s ability to digest fats.
Turmeric is also helpful when it comes to treating various forms of inflammatory bowel diseases, such as ulcerative colitis. Nevertheless, you should be aware that turmeric is not a suitable choice for those who suffer from any form of gallbladder disease, as it may worsen the condition.
Fighting Against Alzheimer’s Disease With Turmeric
There is quite a lot of research into the potential role of curcumin as an Alzheimer’s treatment, with several studies showing that the plant could prevent the formation of the amyloid-beta plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease, and even break them up. Alzheimer’s disease is a cognitive disorder caused by brain inflammation, so the anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin can be of help when it comes to enhancing the oxygen flow to the brain.
According to a study published in the Journal of Stem Cell Research & Therapy in 2014 showed that one of the essential components of turmeric, turmerone, may actually reverse the damage caused by Alzheimer’s disease. Moreover, it should be noted that turmeric is frequently consumed in India, a country where the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease is lower than average.
Tips for Sourcing High-Quality Turmeric
As there are a lot of herbal choices out there, choosing a high-quality turmeric may not be that simple. When looking for a turmeric supplement, try to learn more about the way it was sourced and avoid any genetically modified sources whenever possible. Extraction methods are also important when it comes to the purity and potency of turmeric.
When you consume turmeric as a health aid, keep in mind that curcumin is more bioavailable when combined with a dash of black pepper. An essential chemical in black pepper, piperine, is similar to curcumin when it comes to potential health benefits. According to studies, the serum levels of curcumin are lower when ingested on its own. However, when piperine is added, the bioavailability of curcumin is boosted by up to 2000 %.
Introduced, warm-season, perennial, low-growing
(10-20 cm tall) legume. It forms a strong taproot and mats of stolons. Leaves have 4 obovate leaflets, each up to 4.5 cm
long. Flowerheads are racemes of yellow pea-like flowers in the leaf axils; producing 1-3 small peanut-like pods that are pushed into the soil on “pegs”. Flowering is from spring to autumn. A native of South America, it is sown for grazing and as a tree-crop ground cover. Best suited to greater than 1000 mm rainfall on free draining soils. Shade tolerant, but tops are burnt off by frost. Amarillo and Bolton cultivars are suited to seed sowing; others need to be planted by sprigs. Yields moderate amounts of non-bloating, high quality forage. Slow to establish, but is very persistent in low frost areas and produces large amounts of seed. Can be found in paddocks where sown over 20 years ago. High humidity and good soil moisture are required
for best growth. Although highly drought tolerant, it loses leaves during stress and is slow to recover. Grows on low to high fertility soils and is very efficient at utilising soil phosphorus. Seed costs and sowing rates are high. The large seeds are prone to damage if the wrong
sowing equipment is used, although they can be hand sown onto a prepared seedbed and then harrowed and rolled. Persistent under heavy grazing once established, but maximum production is achieved with rotational grazing and where grasses are not allowed to dominate.
www.medilaw.tv - This is a surgical technique using an anterior approach to the lumbar spine through three portal skin incisions.
TECHNIQUE
You will be lying on your back. Your skin will be cleaned. Three small incisions will be made and portal tubes introduced into the abdomen.
POTENTIAL COMPLICATIONS
ADHESIONS - ABDOMINAL
Scar tissue formation is part of the natural healing process for all body tissues. In most people, scar tissue doesn't cause any problems. Adhesions however, are abnormal bands of scar tissue that take month or years to form. Abdominal adhesions often occur after abdominal surgery. They become attached to the abdominal wall and internal organs, and can cause pain. They can block the intestines, leading to an obstruction. Such adhesions may need surgical removal.
ARTERY INJURY -- COMMON ILIAC
The common iliac artery in the lower abdomen supplies blood to the pelvis and leg on that side. Injury to the artery is uncommon, is usually obvious, and is repaired immediately.
ARTERY PERFORATION
Arteries are large blood vessels that can carry blood under pressure throughout the body. Your doctor will be very careful to avoid injuring arteries near your operation site. An artery perforation can result in significant bleeding and blood loss. This is very uncommon. If an artery is perforated, the artery can usually be repaired and the lost blood can be replaced by a blood transfusion. A specialist vascular surgeon is often asked to repair arteries. Late consequences of artery injury include fistula, hemorrhage, pseudo-aneurysm, thrombosis and emboli.
ARTERY THROMBOSIS
Arteries are large blood vessels that carry blood throughout the body. Sometimes they need to be moved to the side or compressed to allow access to the operation site. This pressure can lead to a clot forming within the artery, a process known as thrombosis. This is most likely in older patients with pre-existing blood vessel disease. A large clot can block the artery, while a small clot can dislodge, becoming an embolus, which travels and eventually blocks a small artery. Blocked arteries lead to insufficient blood flow, or ischemia in the tissues supplied by the artery. This can cause damage to these tissues, which may be permanent, depending on the duration of the blockage. Ischemia in the brain can cause a stroke. In the spinal cord it can cause paralysis and altered sensation. In the legs, it can cause pain and gangrene.
DEATH
No surgeon can guarantee a risk-free operation. All operations have some risks. Some risks are minor inconveniences, while some are major disabilities. The risks increase with repeat operations on the same area of your body. Your entire medical staff will do their best to eliminate all risks to you, before, during and after your surgery. However sometimes, even after the surgery goes well, serious problems can arise that can result in death. These include pneumonia, pulmonary emboli, heart attack and stroke. You should discuss these risks with your Surgeon and your Anesthesiologist.
GASTROINTESTINAL PERFORATION
The intestines are adjacent to the surgical site, and must be moved to obtain access during surgery. Your surgeon will be careful to avoid perforating the intestine. Perforations are difficult to detect, but can be repaired. If not detected, they can lead to serious infection after a few days with pain, fever and bloating. An unseen perforation may need another operation to clean and seal the perforation.
HEMATOMA
During any surgery, some blood vessels will be cut. Your surgeon will stop all significant bleeding before suturing the wound shut. Sometimes bleeding recommences after the operation, forming a collection of blood in the tissues, called a hematoma. The hematoma can cause pain, pressure on adjacent tissues or become infected. It may need to be removed by inserting a drainage tube or performing a surgical operation.
HEMORRHAGE
During surgery, blood vessels must be cut to access the desired location in your spine. Your surgeon will plan the surgical route to avoid large blood vessels, and will ensure bleeding has stopped before finishing the operation. Sometimes, one of these cut blood vessels begins re-bleeding after the operation. If the amount or location of the bleeding is causing you a problem, your surgeon may need to perform a further procedure to stop the bleeding and remove the accumulated blood. law multimedia

Detox is required in order to eliminate toxins from your body, promote weight loss and improve your health. Common ways of body detox include limiting alcohol, fasting, consuming simple and light foods, etc. In this article, we are going to talk about simple, easy and inexpensive ways to detox.
Fortunately, your body is well-equipped to eliminate toxins and doesn’t require special diets or expensive supplements to do so.
Full Body Detox: 11 Ways to Rejuvenate Your Body
Click To Tweet
Lungs, liver, kidney, bowels and skin are the five eliminatory organs of the human body. Even if one of them is jammed, you will experience more sickness, inflammation, body pain, skin problems, weight gain and hormonal imbalance. Detox diets are said to eliminate toxins from your body, improve health, and promote weight loss.
Symptoms for detoxification
Before knowing about the detox, Let’s know about 5 symptoms that you need a detox;
When the lungs are unable to eliminate toxins (carbon dioxide from the body), you get sick, experience heart palpitations and toxicity in the body.
Liver functioning slows down if it is unable to deal with the burden of toxins. It results in fatty liver, sluggishness, fatigue, etc.
If the kidneys are unable to filter toxins from the body, it will result in high uric acid in your body and increases toxicity in the body.
If your bowels don’t function properly, it will result in constipation and increase the duration of waste in your body. This leads to gastric issues, gut issues, bacterial issues, migraine, and low immunity to name a few.
Skin, being the largest eliminatory organ of the body, will react with acne, eczema, skin irritation, dry skin, flaky skin, etc.
“The human body is meant to detoxify naturally. And this can be achieved by taking proper rest and getting adequate sleep”.
How to detox your body naturally?
Time needed: 12 minutes.
Try these 11 simple methods to detox your body naturally
Limit alcohol
Excessive drinking can severely damage your liver function by causing fat buildup, inflammation, and scarring. When this happens, your liver cannot function adequately and perform its necessary tasks — including filtering waste and other toxins from your body. As such, limiting or abstaining entirely from alcohol is one of the best ways to keep your body’s detoxification system running strong.
Sleep
Sleeping well is important for a healthy weight and good overall health. All the detox in your body occurs when you sleep. So, if you want a natural body detox, make amends in your lifestyle so that you are able to sleep well. Create a comfortable and cozy environment in your room, exercise regularly, quit smoking and alcohol, and do not use any gadgets at least an hour before your bedtime, to get a good night’s sleep.
Drink More Water
Water does so much more than quench your thirst. It regulates your body temperature, lubricates joints, aids digestion, and nutrient absorption, and detoxifies your body by removing waste products. Water transports the waste products, efficiently removing them through urination, breathing, or sweating. So staying properly hydrated is important for detoxification. The adequate daily intake for water is 125 ounces (3.7 liters) for men and 91 ounces (2.7 liters) for women. You may need more or less depending on your diet, where you live, and your activity level. Start the day with a glass of warm water and freshly squeezed lemon. This wonder combination has the potential to flush out toxins from the body. You may also add grated ginger in the same for better results. Lemon and ginger together improve digestion and give the metabolism a boost.
Reduce Your Intake of Sugar and Processed Foods
Sugar and processed foods are thought to be at the root of today’s public health crises. High consumption of sugary and highly processed foods has been linked to obesity and other chronic diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. These diseases hinder your body’s ability to naturally detoxify itself by harming organs that play an important role, such as your liver and kidneys.
Eat Foods High in Prebiotics
Gut health is important for keeping your detoxification system healthy. Your intestinal cells have a detoxification and excretion system that protects your gut and body from harmful toxins, such as chemicals. Good gut health starts with prebiotics, a type of fiber that feeds the good bacteria in your gut called probiotics. With prebiotics, your good bacteria are able to produce nutrients called short-chain fatty acids that are beneficial for health. Eating foods rich in prebiotics can keep your immune and detoxification systems healthy. Good food sources of prebiotics include tomatoes, artichokes, bananas, asparagus, onions, garlic, and oats. Yogurt is a superfood, which is an essential source of probiotics, contains good bacteria that helps alleviate digestive issues and cleanses your digestive tract. Make sure you add yogurt or curd to your daily diet.
Eat Antioxidant-Rich Foods
Antioxidants protect your cells against damage caused by molecules called free radicals. Oxidative stress is a condition caused by excessive production of free radicals. Your body naturally produces these molecules for cellular processes, such as digestion. However, alcohol, tobacco smoke, a poor diet, and exposure to pollutants can produce excessive free radicals. By causing damage to your body’s cells, these molecules have been implicated in a number of conditions, such as dementia, heart disease, liver disease, asthma, and certain types of cancer. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants can help your body fight oxidative stress caused by excess free radicals and other toxins that increase your risk of disease. Examples of antioxidants include vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Focus on getting antioxidants from food and not supplements, which may, in fact, increase your risk of certain diseases when taken in large amounts.
Decrease Your Salt Intake
Consuming too much salt can cause your body to retain excess fluid, especially if you have a condition that affects your kidneys or liver or if you don’t drink enough water. This excess fluid buildup can cause bloating and make clothing uncomfortable. If you find yourself consuming too much salt, you can detox yourself from the extra water weight. While it may sound counterintuitive, increasing your water intake is one of the best ways to eliminate excess water weight from consuming too much salt. That’s because when you consume too much salt and not enough water, your body releases an antidiuretic hormone that prevents you from urinating and therefore detoxifying. By increasing your water intake, your body reduces the secretion of the antidiuretic hormone and increases urination, eliminating more water and waste products.
Limit tea & coffee
Caffeinated drinks like tea or coffee can do more harm than good to your body. In order to steer clear of its harmful side effects, swap them with green tea, which is a much better alternative.
Avoid Packaged food and juices
Packaged food and fruit juices may contain preservatives, flavor enhancers, coloring agents and processed sugar. All these elements can have a negative impact on your overall health.
Regular exercise
Regular exercise regardless of body weight is associated with a longer life and a reduced risk of many conditions and diseases, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and certain cancers. By reducing inflammation, exercise can help your body’s systems including its detoxification system function properly and protect against disease.
Intermittent Fasting
Rest refers to fasting when it comes to body detox. Continuously eating makes your digestive system work continuously. Fasting gives your digestive system some rest. Your digestive system, gut, and pancreas can only heal and repair itself when it is in a state of rest. People going through cancer treatment, chemotherapy or liver problems need a detox because of the high intake of medicines. Giving yourself breaks and rests will automatically help you with body detox. Well, intermittent fasting is the perfect and most natural way to detox your body. You can fast for 12 hours starting after sunset to post-sunrise, and it will give your kidneys, lungs, liver and bowel the required time and space for a detox.
Tests to find out how well organs are working
Doctors order blood tests to check things such as the levels of glucose, hemoglobin, or white blood cells. This can help the doctor to detect problems like a disease or medical condition. Sometimes, blood tests can help them see how well an organ (such as the liver or kidneys) are working.
Liver Function Test

Bloating or accumulation of gas in the ostomy bag can be one of the significant disturbances for ostomates. It doesn’t only put pressure back on the stoma and intestines but it can be a real cause of embarrassment.
The term bloating refers to the sensation of #abdominal pressure that can increase the size of the abdomen. Abdominal #distention also refers to the same sensation but it results in abdominal girth. About 50% of the patients who complain about bloating also report abdominal distention. We can describe bloating in simple terms as a sensation of fullness, heaviness, and discomfort. This condition can range from mild to severe. While the exact reason for bloating remains unknown, it commonly happens to the patients with IBS (Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome). However, it may be too early to treat IBS as a standardized reason for bloating.
Ballooning refers to the accumulation of gas through the stoma into the ostomy bag. This gas, or flatus, is a combination of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and methane. These gasses produce as a result of colonic bacterial fermentation.
While normal gas release may not be an issue for both ostomates and non-ostomates, higher production of these gasses can be quite painful as well as embarrassing, especially for ostomates. Since the bag has to contain #stomal output, letting gasses accumulated in this bag to escape can have a ruining impact on the social life of an ostomate. And if the gasses are restricted from escaping, they can result in ballooning, excess of which can turn out to be significantly harmful to the stoma and the intestine behind it.
That said, preventing gas from accumulating in the pouch can be the best thing an #ostomate can consider. However, this prevention doesn’t refer to allowing the gas to release for the bag. Instead, it involves working on the root cause of it. For instance, a healthy and balanced diet does not result in the production of more gasses in the GI tract. Moreover, the way you eat and your exercising routine also contribute to how your GI tract produces, or not produces, gasses.
One of the most common bad habits that result in the production of gasses in the GI tract is swallowing more air. Several foods and beverages and the way people eat and drink them end up producing gasses, which can fill an ostomy bag like a balloon. Several activities such as smoking, drinking through a straw and chewing gum can also result in gas accumulation.
It means that the food intake and the method of that food intake are the primary contributors to whether or not your GI tract ends up producing gasses. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the food and beverage intake. Furthermore, you need to talk to your ostomy care nurse to get proper guidance regarding how to avoid gas accumulation in your gut.
A near term pregnancy shows up on the scout film of a CT scan at work. Seems this young lady was complaining of abdominal pain, and bloating. Eight months or nine months into this, no one, not one person, had done a pregnancy test on her. Until her baby showed up on an X-ray. Goodness.

Hmmm! Must be a bull shark, since this species is often found in brackish water — and even freshwater rivers.
In fact, they have been spotted 2,500 miles up the Amazon River and in Lake Nicaragua, a freshwater lake in Central America. They have traveled up the Mississippi River as far north as Illinois and are regularly spotted in India's Ganges.
Their ability to tolerate freshwater is rooted in salt retention.
Sharks must retain salt inside their bodies. Without it, their cells will rupture and cause bloating and death. Given this requirement, most sharks cannot enter fresh water, because their internal salt levels would become diluted.
But bull sharks have special physiological adaptations that enable them to live in fresh water. Their kidneys recycle the salt within their bodies and special glands, located near their tails, also aid in salt retention.
