We have a blizzard warning. This is the view from the front window and it is forecast to continue snowing all day.
Another image from a very cold evening last Saturday, taken with a long lens towards the sun setting over Higger Tor. The road had become unpassable by car but a few brave souls were venturing out through the weather.

Surprise, our dog, a Border Collie, didn't want to go out in this weather, although he loved snow.
Could you blame him?
But I was determined to make a beautiful shot that day.
I even risked my precious camera...
The result was well worth it, I love the windswept movement of the snow.
I wish you the best of days and thank you for your time. Magda (*_*)

I appreciate that, for many of you, snow is a recurring inconvenience, but when you live in Sydney, Australia, it is something of a novelty and I couldn't resist exploring its photographic possibilities.
For my partially cloudy collection. Fall leaf reflections in Ulster Heights Lake, NY (and white clouds).
Attempt was to capture the motion of blowing snow in one still shot.

Weather has been very varying this February. One day plus degrees and rain, the next day blizzard with plenty of snow or sleet. This photo was taken after previous evening and night blizzard. We got 25 cm new snow and the trees were again beautifully decorated.

It was dangerously cold as well, with a brutal wind chill. Not a heavy snowfall preceding the wind, but the powerful NW wind was more than enough to cause a dangerous storm.
All night long the storm roared on:
Morning broke without a sun;
In crystal speckles traced with lines
Of Nature’s geometric signs,
In starry flake, and pellicle,
All day the blinding whiteness fell;
And, when the second morning shone,
We looked upon a world unknown,
On nothing we could call our own.
Around the glistening wonder bent
The shattered walls of firmament,
No cloud above, no earth below,—
A universe of sky and snow!
--from Snowbound, by John Greenleaf Whittier, one of my favorite poems as a child
Four knights encounter a terrible monster they thought belonged only to the past!
But the monstrous mammoth is not alone. The knights appear to have trod accidentally into an ancient ice kingdom almost frozen in time, a kingdom of the East, determined to protect itself from outsiders. Who will immerge from the encounter victorious? And whose bones will remain in the blizzard, to be lost forever to the snow, the wind, and the ice...
Hey guys, this is my entry to Brickscalibur's Monstrous Encounter category, which I collaborated a little with my sister on. Hope you like it :) .
In heavy snow fall 99222 is seen in dramatic departure from Schierke on the Harz narrow gauge network. The photo gives the impression I am stood in the middle of the track but this is not the case. The line bends to my right as the train gets nearer. this is on a telephoto lens.

A snowflake, a blizzard of one, weightless, enters your room
and drifts to the arm of the chair where you, looking up
from your book, see it the moment it lands. That's all
there is to it: no more than a lifting and falling away of attention, a time between times, a flowerless funeral; no more than that,
except for the feeling that this piece of the storm,
which turns into nothing before your eyes, would come back, that someone years hence, sitting as you are now, might say:
"It's time. The air is ready. The sky has an opening."

Merry Christmas, Flickr friends
Galatea appears through one of the frequent blizzards of 17th March 2018 with the southbound Cathedrals Express. Here seen approaching Kirkby Stephen. (I was to pay for this madness with a 7.5 hour journey home due to road closures, jack-knifed trucks et al...and to think summer time starts next Saturday.....)
