Edited European Southern Observatory image of the galaxy NGC 6118. Color/processing variant.

Original caption: NGC 6118, a grand-design spiral galaxy, shines bright in this image, displaying its central bar and tight spiral arms from its home in the constellation of Serpens (The Snake). The galaxy is sometimes known to amateur astronomers as the “Blinking Galaxy” because this relatively faint, fuzzy object would appear to flick into existence when viewed through their telescopes in a certain orientation, and then suddenly disappear again as the eye position shifted. The brilliant blue star-forming regions of the galaxy, where hot young stars are born, are beautifully illuminated, even from over 80 million light-years away. In 2004, regular observers of this galaxy saw a “new star” appear near the edge of the galaxy (above the centre of the image). Far from being a new star, this object, supernova 2004dk, is in fact the final, powerful burst of light emitted by the explosion of a star. Though shy to lesser telescopes, the galaxy cannot hide from ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) at Cerro Paranal, Chile. The image was obtained using the VIsible MultiObject Spectrograph (VIMOS) at the VLT.

Blinking legs and a beautiful tattoo. I also saw another cyclist with a tattoo of a devil on a bike, that was a funny tattoo but I didn't had a chance to take a pic of it.

Scary gray alien walks and looks blinking on a dark smoky background. UFO futuristic concept. 3D rendering.

Blinking locked with the keyholders all on holiday according to the neighbours. "What did he want", I heard the mans wife say as I despondently walked away.

Put off straight away I was! Had a wander round the graveyard as you have to when a church is locked. Never saw much to interest me,but as I always say to myself in this frustrating situation, I'm sure the locals love it (if they are allowed in)! Decided that I still had time to do a couple more so put Capel St Mary in the satnav and off I went driving past the Case Is Altered, which is also the name of my Dads pub in Ipswich.

From far she sees something blinking. A soft but powerful noise is heard. Her senses alarmed, she can't resist the attraction.

(keep on going)

The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian and cyclist tilt bridge spanning the River Tyne

The award-winning structure was conceived and designed by architects Wilkinson Eyre and structural engineers Gifford. It was built by Volker Stevin in 2000.

The bridge is sometimes referred to as the Blinking Eye Bridge due to its shape and its tilting method.

This tilting arrangement allows ships up to 82ft in height to pass under. The bridge takes as little as 4.5 minutes to rotate through the full 40° from closed to open, depending on wind speed!

My Japanese Ghost Detector arrived the other day. It supposedly detects changes in the electro-magnetic field and starts blinking red if it detects a ghost. Hmmmm.....

So far it hasn't found any. I took it down to the Strand the other day and no luck....nor were there any at the Credit Union earlier today.... Ya gotta figure that since 8,000-12,000 people died in the 1900 Hurricane, ghosts are everywhere in Galveston....

Then again...lol....what do you expect from a $18 piece of plastic with LED lights....(damn the weak dollar)..hahah

Now if I could only figure out how to integrate it into my Twitter account. :-)

This is a home in our town. They have music synchronized with the blinking lights. I took pictures of their Halloween decorations too. They really like to do it up for the holidays.

I wanted to post something so that you could see the blinking lights. The quality of this isn't the greatest...not sure why. Maybe next holiday I should try to take actual video...this is a slide show made from stills.

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs.... yahoo! yahoo!

So many of them just blink at you from the tree with their Christmasy secrets kept.

Blinking in the evening sun, last on the road in 2006, scheduled to be inspected and MOT tested this summer. You will hear it before you see it!

She closed her eyes, blinking back the fountain of tears, and opened them slowly again. She could almost see her sister there, playing like she had back in the forest so long ago.

I passed this guy twice that night. He was covered in pins that flashed all the different colors

Some more Osprey goodness, since they don't spend much time by where I live.

Lots of BLUE lately, but I guess that's better than WHITE.

Tatiana & Mom drinkin'-and-smokin'.

Once, there was a blinking Christmas Tree at the bottom of these stairs. Brent Ingebretsen, when coming over to hang out in my [downstairs] room, managed to walk right by it without noticing.

How? A mystery to all.

It does seem like overkill to allow such a small boat through!

I shot this with my cameraphone! LOL!

It's the only way I can upload photos

until I can upgrade to pro! Hopefully,

sometime this week! I have blinking lights on the tree so they really shine!

I like the way the lights reflect on the

ceiling! With the blinking lights the colors change and dance on the ceiling. It's really beautiful, wish I could

capture it better!

The lil LADY stands her ground !!Problem is,the traffic behind her is over a quarter mile long !!!!She SHOULD turn around once in a while !!!!!!!!!!My line was only 6 cars................

This might not look like much, but it makes me happy. I wish I could find a before picture, but it's on my old dear departed computer, never to be retrieved. This is the lathe and plaster ceiling in the living room of my historic bungalo, freshly restored (last room yay!) It was riddled in cracks, and there was a large section where the plaster was separating from the lathe and crumbling down. In the unstable area, I marked out all of the ceiling joists, drilled oversized holes through the plaster, and filled them with copious amounts of construction adhesive. I then pulled the plaster tight to the lathe and joists using long screws through my glue-holes, with large washers to distribute the tension. Next, I chiseled out all of the loose plaster around the cracks and taped them with fiberglass joint tape. This is three rounds of plaster and sanding later, and it is nearly flawless. My long term plans for this ceiling: I want to put Venetian plaster and wax, and coffer it, but that will be a project for another day.
