I was trackside on a hot August 14, 1988 evening, with my Canon F1 aimed at Rio Grande's hot Railblazer train, blasting east through Springville, Utah. I'm at 1600 South grade crossing, a location with a compromised line of sight. The right of way traverses a curved, tree lined cut, without the benefit of crossing warning lights, bells, and gates.

Happy Sliders Sunday!

Cool ride in our little City haha!

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.” ― Lauren DeStefano, Wither

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,

Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;

Conspiring with him how to load and bless

With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,

And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;

To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells

With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,

Until they think warm days will never cease,

For summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?

Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find

Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,

Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;

Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,

Drows'd with the fume of poppies, while thy hook

Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:

And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep

Steady thy laden head across a brook;

Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,

Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

Where are the songs of spring? Ay, Where are they?

Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—

While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,

And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;

Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn

Among the river sallows, borne aloft

Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;

And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;

Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft

The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;

And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

Rio Grande’s Railblazer, train No. 103, glides through Riverton, Utah just after sunrise on April 17, 1989. In a little over 10 miles, this train of priority piggyback trailers from Denver will arrive at the intermodal ramp at Roper Yard in South Salt Lake.

Another shot of our view from atop the 52nd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori building as we took in the view of the last sunset of 2009.

Decided to take this one with the Lumix point-n-shoot as it has great zoom capability, and as I've become too lazy to change lenses on the Pentax K-7, as I default to using it for wide-angle shots.

Ok so I'm not usually much of a morning person, but having three girls and getting them ready for school and out the door conditions me to be. This view just happens to be one of the perks every once in a while.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

The sky lightens. Shadows darken trees and branches. Fronds proclaim I'm in the tropics. Walking, clicking shots.

this purple wildflower blooms open first at the top and then move downward on the stem.

After some research this flower is identified as Blazing Star there are 3 varieties and I’m not sure which this species is. Choices are: Prairie Blazing Star, Dense Blazing Star (my guess) and Eastern Blazing Star all are in the Liatris family.

866 looks great as it splits the searchlights at MD South. It was here that Pete's windshield would be cracked by a piece of Bessemer ore. Ah, memories...

A colorful display of aspen trees in their autumn glory with bright orange and red leaves. The tall, slender trunks of the trees create a striking contrast.
