Rio Grande's Salt Lake City to Denver "Railblazer", train No. 102, rounds a photogenic four degree curve at the west portal of the 3180 ft. Thistle Tunnel the evening of June 25, 1987. The west portal is one of few locations where an eastbound train swings into the sunlight on summer evenings. This right of way was constructed during the spiring of 1983, in response to a massive mudslide which shut down the original routing through the small town of Thistle. The relocation of US Highway 6 can be seen high above the Railblazer, along Billies Mountain.
The sun is about to rise over the Canard River near Amherstburg, Ontario. The river almost appears to be on fire from the early morning sky as the heat of summer has finally arrived in southwest Ontario.
A hike today with my souldog Tamino. Made a lot of pictures, here the first one. Impressive light situation :) HDR out of 3 pics.

But these are my people, this is where I come from
We're givin' this life everything we got and then some
It ain't always pretty, but it's real
It's the way we were made, wouldn't have it any other way
These are my people

This is a leftover from a couple of months ago. This single Blazing Star was showing off in a large patch of Rattlesnake Master. Sadly the prairie wildflower season is about over. Taken with the Helios 44-2.
I don't often like sun flares and do my best to avoid them but this one seemed just right. A real shield your eyes moment. Taken at Norcot Wood.
Rio Grande’s Railblazer train No. 102 blasts through Utah Valley east of Springville, Utah the evening of Sept. 13, 1989. The Grande’s overnight sprint trains rushed piggyback trailers between Salt Lake City and Denver for five years, making their final runs in April 1990. TOFC (Trailer on Flat Car) was the primary mode of shipment, although five pack spine cars debuted on the Blazers late in 1989.
From my terrace and early in the morning when the sun faces right into the cliffs, the Palisades are always the first to turn in my area. Probably caused by the stresses of growing along a sheer cliff face, this is usually my view around Columbus Day. This year the peak color day waited until October 28th.
