For the a-r people (like me) who always want to see the backs of work. Most of these patterns could be reversible, but I've chosen the sturdiness of backstitch over the wow factor of Holbein and reversibility - since this item is meant to be displayed, it will get dusty and need to be washed several times a year.

tudor-era woman's shift,front view. Black on white cotton, original pattern. The neckline and cuffs are attached to their 4th "body"; this was the first blackwork I ever did.
Back in late 2011, I "designed" three blackwork ornaments. I only finished the blue snowflake that year, although I did get through about half of a red/green ornament before I set it aside to work on other projects. 3 1/2 years later, I finally picked it back up this morning and finished it tonight :) The fibers are a mix of overdyes (WDW, GAST & Threadworx) on what appears to be antique white evenweave (but I no longer remember exactly which evenweave). All three of my "snowflakes" were inspired by blackwork designs by Elizabeth Almond and Kell Smurthwaite, but I varied the outline and fill stitches to my own tastes. 4-24-2015
This is the icon stand for which this rushnyk is being made, The gold-stitched center part is planned to cover the surface where the icon rests.
For Bjar, which I really need to have done for AT war. It incorperates some of his household's symbles with his personal heraldry which will have a Dalmation on it. Black silk on a very loose weaved linen - I admit I'm a little concerned by that.

The stem stitch outlining is pretty terrible -- planning on whipping around it when I'm done to try to make it look better.
