This has been on my photostream before; I tweaked the contrast just a bit and also the toning.
The craft of blacksmithing – including making nails and hooks, mending pots and pans, repairing plows and weapons, shoeing horses, and more – was crucial to the plantation’s operation.
I left the General Store and went acorss this place to go see the Blacksmith Shop. It is straight ahead.

Headed back to South Africa this week to do field work on Nile crocodiles and thought it was a good time to post some of the photos I had not posted from my trip in May. Hope you enjoy a few of these bird photos.

Note the ring on it's lower right leg. Different leg and placement to other Blacksmith Lapwing.
In the restored Pioneer Village in Spring Mill State Park. The building was a log cabin moved from somewhere else, restored in the village and turned into a working blacksmith shop. Guess these are decorative stuff made by the smith.
In Calgary, there is a historical village known as Heritage Park which has numerous rides and buildings from the early 1900s where volunteers will reenact tasks and occupations which existed then. I have probably in total visited at least fifty times since I was younger and next to the ferris wheel and caterpillar, my favourite 'spot' to visit was the blacksmith's shop.

This blacksmith at Old Sturbridge Village is wonderful with people. He's been there for years. When we were there he was working on an axe head.
