Blacksmith Lapwing - Vanellus armatus - Чибис-кузнец

Karoo Gariep Nature Reserve, Hanover, Northern Cape, South Africa, 03/05/2021

I'm told many a young Wisconsin student, upon visiting the blacksmith, at least briefly entertained dreams of someday learning the trade themselves.

The Blacksmith making some tools for the Farmers in the foreground - I remember taking this picture, it was a tight angle to get them all in the frame - his wife turning the wheel - and the guy in the orange turban smoking a chillum.

This is my third approach to that construction. I had an issue with the shape of the upper floor of that building, but it is finally done :) I’m happy that there is a feature with glowing bricks. When I started that MOC that feature was unavailable.

I rendered a lot of different shots, so I will probably add two post of that blacksmith’s workshop.

Regarding that scene. You can see a lot of work there, two experienced blacksmiths are working hard and one younger journeyman is grinding the blade. Other worker is on the first top. There is always a chance to sell some weapons to some unexpected group of adventurers :)

Regarding the group of adventurers, do you see that group on the road? I was inspired by one old RPG video game. It was one of the most popular games of that type. In that year or next will be released the third part of that title. Small question for you, do you know what game title I mean? :) Please leave a comment if you want.

This is not a new photo, since it was actually taken a couple months back at King Richard's Faire. I never uploaded it anywhere since I had completely overexposed the background shamefully. I've finally decided to upload it though because I am just fond of the image and would rather people see the mistake I made than not see this at all.

One of the old-school blacksmith shops in Gateef, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia

A view to blacksmith's smithy

The blacksmith shop makes everything metal: from swords, to large cannons, to radios, and oil rig drill-bits.

I made this blacksmith shop about a year ago.

Common resident, normally near rivers and dams.

Wilson Museum, the best little museum I've ever visited. The blacksmith made my niece a coat hook, the woodturner made her a top out of cherry wood, and a sweet young girl in period dress brought us hot fresh doughnuts!

"The smith, a mighty man is he,

With large and sinewy hands;

And the muscles of his brawny arms

Are strong as iron bands."

By:- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Jens is an extremely talented blacksmith. He has been forging for over 20 years and approaches his skill as an art. He firmly believes in the importance of all the elements working together and the respect of the flame and intent as he forges blocks of iron into beautiful masterpieces. Whether its the hard iron ore or soft bronze and delicate steel, he understands the metals and their needs and uses his experience and knowledge to create his work. It has been such a pleasure getting to know him and Clara and working with them as he demonstrated his craft. I am also proud to say that he used several of my photographs from our recent shoot for his new brochure advertising his business!
