Here is my creation for CCC XII for Castle Building category.

Brickshelf

Wanted to try out some new colors and revisit the hinged building concept. The green was pretty fun to work with. Started off with lots of texture for the dark grey and blue for the roof and second story; but I didn't like that so I pretty well tore down the whole thing and started over.

A really fun build on the whole!

Blacksmith (Farrier), forging a horseshoe ready for fitting to the horse. Chatsworth, Derbyshire.

the malham circular walk was a wonderful introduction to the Yorkshire d.ales, especially for someone like myself from the fenlands of east anglia where the most elevated position is usually is the upstairs window .

we left malham and followed the signs that lead to Janets Foss , then moved on to Goredale Scar , unfortunately we had to settle for a veiw from the position of the rope that warned us not to proceed any further due to the danger of possible falling rocks because of the recent persistent rain. we the returned to the bridge that we had passed on the way to the scar and had a bite to eat and proceeded to take the trail (UP HILL) to the Malham cove, the limestone pavement was very slippery and so we chose to take the safer route over the top and made our way down the other side down a set of very steep steps. once at the bottom we saw the impressive site of the Cove itself. after a 5 hour trek we rerurned to the car, warmed up and set of to a vantage point to see the cove from afar , by this time the clouds had moved on enough so the sun briefly lit up the hillsides,

When you have a damaged weapon or need a new one, a blacksmith is the right place for you. Sword in the Forge!

I am very excited about the Ideas Medieval Blacksmith set that adorns my lego room, so I made my own version. The inspiration was a model from Tabletop World.

I hope you like it!

Near the center of the village sits the home of the village blacksmith. Working out of a small shop connected to his house, the blacksmith provides trustworthy work to the local farmers, soldiers, and craftsmen who need a horse shoed, a plough sharpened, or a tool repaired. The sound of his hammer striking metal can be heard throughout the countryside, and the cozy outdoor shop often serves as the site of friendly socialization and sharing of news for the village residents.

Another build incorporating the technic-pin roof technique I've been playing with. I love the way it looks and the versatility of it's shape, but it can really be a pain to work with. ;)

Also, building houses is kinda hard...getting the roof shape and building proportions right can be complicated. Something I need to practice more. :)

Thanks for looking!

Built circa 1859, this is one of the charming historical buildings in beautiful downtown Dundas, a suburb of Hamilton, Ontario.

Thank you, my kind Flickr friends, for visiting my site and taking the time to leave a comment. Truly appreciated!

This Blacksmith Lapwing is vocalizing, which the species is wont to do. The sound bears resemblance to the hammering of a blacksmith on an anvil. The strong pattern of black, white, and grey is eye-catching despite the muted colours. This bird was in the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania, which has numerous wetland areas as required by this species.

The blacksmith shop was essential to the life of any 19th-century community. The blacksmith, so named because he works with black iron, would “iron” sleighs and wagons, make tools and architectural hardware and do repairs. He was also knowledgeable as a ferrier, shoeing horses. He could make most of his own equipment.

The Blacksmith Shop at Lang Pioneer Village Museum was built in Warsaw Ontario in 1859 and restored to 1880. The Shop was built by Daniel Kidd, who began his apprenticeship in Keene at the age of 15. The Blacksmith Shop was closed in 1940 and the building and its contents were donated to Lang Pioneer Village Museum in 1967 when the Museum opened.

In the shop are the basic tools of the trade – forge, anvil, bellows, swages and fullers, mechanical blowers, hammers and tongs, a bin for the blacksmith’s coal, and a quenching tub. Suspended from the rafters were anything from twitches for restraining restless horses to short lengths of forge-welded chains.

My first castle MOC, its a little medieval forge. I started to build it because I wanted to contribute a MOC to the medieval project of the other BricktimeTeam members. After finishing the house and some parts of the environment, I lost the enthusiasm for this project. But two excellent castle experts, BoB and Wochenender, take care for it. They put the final touches to it and they also made these photos. Thanks a lot my friends.

To build out of my comfortzone needs help/inspiration:

Every year on Mother's Day weekend my mother holds a Rendezvous on her property. We get quite a few people showing up and some camp out, it's quite fun. This year we had a blacksmith, bodger (wood working), flint napper and Native American beading as well as an archery range.
