Burwell Fen Short Eared Owl Hunt, using the wind on the day to hover over its prey before it's rabbit legs dropped ready to trap its prey.
This is a photo that luck played into some bad and some good; the bad was I killed my battery in my truck, but had the good fortune of witnessing these two love birds.
Had the most awesome day at Claire Carter and Hawkeye Bird of Prey Photography Workshop in Thoresby Park. A privilege to get close to such beautiful birds and I learned such a lot about bird photography that I hope I can put in to practice in future. My photos (just a few here out of 100s I took today) are pale imitations of what is achievable but I'm happy with (some of) my efforts with limited kit.
Mom feeding her two babies. The one on the left is larger and more agressive and was getting most of the food. She/he kept knocking the other back, but mom is a good mother and she would occasionally hand a hunk over to the smaller eaglet. After a bit the larger of the two got full and mom began feeding the little guy.

This is the absolute closest that a hawk in the wild ever let me get to him (or her). I kept inching forward thinking he would take off, but he didn't until after I got a shot or two. My heart was really pumping. This shot was hand held from inside my truck with a Sony Mavica camera. The mountains in the background are the foothills of the Cascades in Oregon. (000pixoncda4foto)
