This is Scarlet. She had a left wing fracture and has been cared for by the great folks @raptor_inc since 2003. What a phenomenal place to visit!
Blue jays are incredibly gorgeous birds but they are sadly much maligned by some in the birding community and the bulk of that dislike for Blue jays came from the patron saint of birding, John Audubon. He said this about the bird, "Who could imagine,” he mused, “that a form so graceful, arrayed by nature in a garb so resplendent, should harbour [sic] so much mischief;—that selfishness, duplicity, and malice should form the moral accompaniments of so much physical perfection!”
Happily the image of the Blue jay is improving as we learn even more about these incredibly gregarious and intelligent birds.

It is resident in the Himalayas and mountain foothills of northern India, Bangladesh, northern Indochina, Southeast Asia and Japan. This bird is mainly found in mountain rivers and larger rivers in the foothills of mountains.

Red Tail Black Cockatoo. Calyptorhynchus banksii
The male red-tailed black cockatoo courts by puffing up crest and cheek feathers, and hiding the beak; it then sings and struts, ending in a jump and a flash of red tail feathers toward the female who will most often reply by defensively biting him.

Went out to Tinchi Tamba Wetlands early today to try and get some BIF images and maybe some kangaroos, but Murphy showed his ugly head and the heavens opened up, so I was only able to get a couple of half decent shots, this is one of them. I have been told it is a Grey Fantail.
