This Cooper's hawk (Accipiter cooperii) was photographed in Loveland, Colorado, in June 2010. I can't tell what the small bird is! The hawk spent a long time on the post of our dock on our small lake on the edge of town, next to a natural-area-type open space.
Taken many years to capture this bird and an embarrassing moment in a Central Madrid Park when the locals thought I was photographing "ladies of the night"
Grey Butcherbird, Cracticus torquatus - Jells Park - VIC
If you were in Melbourne and out about in the evening , you know how it was like, very windy cold and no lights.
Shot with wide open, reasonably high ISO and lower SS and handheld. Sync VR is really worked when needed. ( MFT and longer focal length ) I might dust off my D300s for next winter :-)
we had this nuthatch, a chickadee and some chipmunks eating out of our hands at Hogsback Falls. The cardinal looked like he wanted to also be he never landed on the hand.
This beautiful oystercatcher was watching us while sitting so close next to us - but we needed minutes until we saw him. Bird Watching in another direction. ;-D
Nice to see this bird. Used to have tons of these birds here every day. Haven't seen too many of these birds since there was an outbreak of Trichomoniasis in this area last year. Hope they make a comeback.
Not sure but they may have been taking vegetation to bind their nests.
I had a real bonus yesterday.. the first cuckoo I have ever heard here in 30 years. It roved from tree to tree using them as songposts. Of course it was buried in foliage but a magical interlude that gave me an excuse to abandon studying :-)
One of my favourite birds, a great splash of vibrant colours!
Guêpier à collier bleu - Merops variegatus - Blue-breasted Bee-eater
Langano Lake, Rift Valley, Ethiopia
This Cape May Warbler is the "jelly boss" in my friends backyard. They won't let any other bird get near the jelly feeder...you big meany!
I pulled in to a church parking lot to turn my truck around and as I was leaving the lot I spotted 2 Pileated Woodpeckers between the parking lot and the road. This one is a male and I didn't get a good look at the other. DSC_6370-2©
