The car got a Bilstein chassis, which was also personally tuned by Walter Röhrl. (One of my old bosses .. Peter Schlenkhoff .. was co-pilot at Walter Röhrl, so Mr. Röhrl visited us from time to time. Peter .. I greet you ✌😎).

Special:
- It's designed by Friedrich Geiger and Karl Wilfert, but because MB didn't like the big "American style" fins, so the fins are quite small. The W110 is a literal copy of the W111, the S Class, with the difference being the size and variations in the engines.
- The Mercedes-Benz W110 Limousine was the entry level line of mid-size 4-cylinder rear wheel drive cars, precursor of the E-class.
- It was also the first MB Diesel model available with an automatic transmission.
- The speedometer is vertical with a liquid that rises according to your speed.
- The manufacturer called it "Peilstege" (“guide bars”) which should make parking easier (they clearly marked the end of the car).
- These cars were quickly nicknamed "Flosse", "Heckflosse" or „kleine Heckflosse“. In the English-speaking countries, they are known by the nickname "Fintail" or "Finnie".
- The W110 Limousine was assembled in Sindelfingen (Germany), in Barcelona (Venezuela) and in Port Melbourne (Australia).
- From 1966-1973 a Combi (station wagon) was built by Société Anonyme pour l'Importation de Moteurs et d'Automobiles (IMA), Mechelen in Belgium.
This rally support van was fitted with an 89bhp 2-litre engine to Celica specification plus a Group 2 clutch and Bilstein suspension. This didn't stop it rolling on to its bump stops during this slalom course.
Scanned from the November 1982 issue of Cars and Car Conversions.
UPD 706X was last taxed in August 1988 (year of make shows as 1980).
