"They say an elephant never forgets. What they don't tell you is, you never forget an elephant."

Quote - Bill Murray

I found this elephant made of wood in a second-hand shop. it looks exotic, with an elephant head but the body and very large hands and feet of a human being. Don't know who made it…

It stands on the windowsill and attracts a lot of interest from passers-by. With its size 55cm height it's one of the tallest elephants of my collection. ;-))

Happy Sliders Sunday!

Let's hope it's not overly sunny in Phi's world today, causing him to see his shadow. If he does, we'll be stuck hearing the same Sonny & Cher song over and over again for weeks :) Happy Groundhog Day!

Looking at this image for the past two weeks and finally decided to share it… taken while photographing hummingbirds in my neighbor’s garden.

While processing the photo, I noticed another denizen lurking on the crest of one the feeders. I asked if they had put a "fake" mantis on the feeder; but no, this was the real deal! What was it doing there? Well, I was shocked to learn that some mantises will actually eat hummingbirds! Was that going on here – I find it hard to believe given their relative sizes here! Anyway, this mantis has since been well and gently relocated to another spot in the garden. And BTW, the blurred white background stripes are edge trim on a garden shed wall.

Later in the day while doing some minor tree trimming, another mantis must have dropped onto my arm at some time. After I spotted it, I also relocated it to nearby lilacs. Strange seeing two mantises in the same day when it’s so rare to see them at all. While reading up on mantises, I found that even a single mantis sighting and/or encounter appears possibly to have beneficial spiritual connotations and two in the same day… well, what can I say? As Bill Murray in “Caddyshack” said about the blessing he received while caddying for the Dalai Lama, “I got that going for me now!”

Finally, the title of this post is the first line of the famous poem... you guessed it... "The Spider and the Fly,” written by the famous and prolific English poet and author Mary Howitt (1799–1888) and published in 1829.

Here we see Richard Pryor and Bill Murray. Neither of whom have performed here, I assume. Murals by street artist Zabou.

So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the 18th and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice."

Just a small sample of the genius in the world. What do we do without Bills?

Woodstock, Illinois mural

My Mom by some of the Bill Murray paintings at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora Illinois. We saw the play Groundhog Day there.

This is my lucky five spot. Got this at 7/11 a couple years back and will never part with it. I feel like Bill's eyes follow me when I look at it.

Used my lucky lighter to pin Bill Rowdy down long enough to take the pic.

This is from the elevator of the bar on the top floor of the hotel... from the movie, Lost In Translation...

or, Park Hyatt.

It has been since 2010 the last time we saw Ghostbusters on this photostream, and I felt that needed to be fixed!

Holy smokes, this set is incredible! I haven't had this much fun with one of TLG's sets since... since like... a long time! I had a blast reliving the memories of watching the film for the first time (I watched it with the build) and despite making some minor tweaks to the figs, I really had nothing inherently bad to say about this model.

Anyway, I was so impressed with the car that I went a bit out of my norm to shoot her and the figs :)

The Comedy Club in Islington, now renamed The Bill Murray, with comedy characters painted by Zabou. When I arrived a brewery lorry was parked alongside, so I could only shoot at an angle. But I quite like this one with the drayman looking towards me...he probably thought I was having a laugh.

In the picture: Robin Williams, Eddie Izzard, Victoria Wood...and an unknown drayman.

This is my first big LEGO build, The Life Aquatic Movie with Bill Murray and Directed By Wes Anderson. It includes the Belafonte Ship complete with sauna, albino research dolphins, full cast in mini figs and many other aspects of the great Life Aquatic re created in Lego. The movie "Lost in Translation": many scenes were taken in the New York Bar at the 52nd floor of the Park Hyatt hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

The American icon Bill Murray graced a room full of ecstatic patrons with his shot pouring skills and gentle smile a few days ago in Brooklyn. Having grown up as so many of us did, laughing and loving this man's lifetime of work, I was beaming with excitement to have been invited to the event, and document it for The New York Times. Link to the story today is in my profile, and I'll be posting a few additional images in Instagram Stories.

A large-size poster, compliments of cjmartin.

The Ghostbusters take care to not cross streams as they deal with a gelatinous Martin Keamy.

This house was the bed & breakfast that Phil Connors (Bill Murray's character) stayed in during the 1993 film Groundhog Day. The town of Woodstock, Illinois continues to celebrate this film by doing annual Groundhog Day festivities.
