A day spent in Salem, Oregon, then Amtrak home

This place was so weird it was the only place to camp for like 100 miles and it was behind this old run down diner with a bunch of abandoned oil drilling equipment. oh and the old lady that ran it lived maybe 50 yards away and both her and her husband would drive there either in a van or golf cart. A scottish touring couple were telling us how hard it was to believe that america was on the forefront of technology and that places like this exist.

Five of us headed out to Ainsworth for a fun (but a little wet) night of bike camping.

Sunday: We took Pete's Mountain Rd from Canby Ferry to West Linn. It's a beautiful road with great views, but it is one beast of a climb, 8-10% grades plus a fake out double summit. It broke the three of us. We rode the rest of the way on the west side of the Willamette, which felt A LOT hillier than I remembered!😰🚲🗻 #ualchampoegsept2018 #bikeovernight #s24o #biketouring #bikecamping #petesmountainroad
