For this print we decided to recreate Snow White. The same girl who was Little Red Riding Hood was the evil witch who gives Snow White the poisoned apple. Since we don't know where the nearest cave is in Florida, we took the picture at the Big Tree in downtown West Palm. The roots of the tree gave an interesting background and nice textures also. We also gave the evil witch a long wooden staff because all evil witches carry one, I guess.
Enlarger Notes: f11 for 7 sec. (1st ex.) Then added 2 sec. to burn in the details of the white blouse.
“Wow, those are some big trees” the Dan from Steiner Painting said when he showed up yesterday morning. “That’s what I said on the phone” Mr Chiots replied. I suppose he’s used to most people describing a 30 ft tree as a “big” tree. We’re surrounded by old growth trees, most of them well over 100 years old I’m sure. It’s too bad some of them had to come down for the safety of our little cottage.

After leaving VN and traveling through Europe, I remember reading in the Intl Herald Tribune a short news item about the tree falling and killing several people.
