After a brilliant start to my raptor watch in Spain seeing and photographing all the big raptors and a bonus Otter I decided to make a move from Monfraque .I decided to try my luck on a new set of mountains further south the Sierra Morena a fast area to search I allowed myself 4 days and nights starting well to the east of the mountains to try and see or hear the critically endangered Iberian Lynx. After 3 days no signs of any cats but had some very good close views of a pair of Spanish Imperial Eagles and the enormous cinereous vulture(black)one of the words largest flying birds with a wingspan of 3 meters or 9ft. Then on my last morning setting up my camera and tripod i could hear the call of a cat so I grabbed my camera and field glasses and then at to do the 4 minute mile around two double bends not easy for a old age pensioner of 65, stopping were I first heard the cat I looked over the valley and spotting these blue magpies there right next to them laying chilled out on a rock my first ever sighting of a wild lynx all my patients had finally paid off it stayed on the rock for 30 minutes before wondering of into the undergrowth.
