Sun risung on Lake Tahoe, California. This is the iconic Emerald Bay as the sun peaks over the distant mountains.
Strolling the flower gardens at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, we came across this plant growing in the center of one of the beds. As meticulous as their gardens are, we felt it had to be a flower of some sort. It has since been identified by Plantaholic Sheila (below) as "Eryngium sp".
Bonsai Rock located on the east side shore of Lake Tahoe. This past wnter we had an abundance of snow and the lake is very full and the iconic rock is much more under the lake water.
This is from a recent wade trip with my daughter Morgan. On this day, Morgan caught twice as many fish as I did. It's not just beginners luck any more.

There is a recreational area on south Pierce Ave. that is quite delightful. Walking, jogging and picnic areas to name a few. On this morning, I was early, and found the large pond area very interesting with the deep colors.
The beautiful tree capped everything off like it was almost planned to be there . . .

On beautiful Sunday morning, a PF-9 crew takes a 120 car loaded coal train from the BNSF at BRC’s Commerical Avenue Yard with a four pack of CSS GP38-2s. Seen here heading eastbound through the curve over the NKP (NS CHI District) and across “Big Blue” bridge before going downhill into the Hegewisch depot, eventually crossing the border into Indiana. The train is bound for Cleveland Cliffs Mill in Burns Harbor, IN. Taken: 5-30-21

It’s a beautiful sunny day on Chicago’s East Side, as The Belt Job or train AF-4 from CSS Bailly Yard, roars up hill in run 8 for “Big Blue” bridge over the NS Chicago District with a GP38-2/GP40-2 combo. CSS 2009 leads an leased out FURX 4226, as they head west through Hegewisch, IL, bound for Belt Railway of Chicago’s Commercial Ave Yard after crossing the Indiana/Illinois State Line. Taken: 11-8-22
Down at the beach there was very bright reflecting silvery light. The local yachts all left the harbour together.
The photo was taken from Wollongong lighthouse.
Big Blue - Pierce Avenue
A very popular recreational area in Mason City. There were hikers, grandpa and two kids in a small boat fishing and a picnic off behind me on the shore.
I choose this view because of the quiet and peaceful ambience it shows, while August is quickly slipping away!

A possibility for the Macro Mondays theme of feathers. “Big” blue is sort of a misnomer bc he’s only about an inch across. Forgot to do an actual size verification for this shot.

If you follow South Pierce far enough, you will find a recreational area with walking paths, benches and picnic tables on and around the big ponds.
Early morning shadows pointing towards very soft spongy ice. So far, our February weather has been very mild and pleasant!

I’m live but a few minutes by car from the place where I stood to take photo back in January last year. I had the called this photo “race me” as the wave said to the gulls. However due to our current lockdown status I renamed it so near yet so far. I’ll never take this view for granted again, although I think I never did.
Near the end of our week on board MV Big Blue we got to dive at Shaab Claude where there were swim throughs, tunnels and caverns in the coral. Here my buddy Doug is entering the first swim through.
Here I have tried to expose for the natural light at the far end of the swim through and added flash to see Doug and some of the coral.
Defying gravity, tons of water are briefly held aloft. This plunging breaker has an extensive barrel ceiling.

Splash zone pounding of the Kaiwi coast dissolves volcanic tuff, erodes basalt, and shatters surging waves into spray. A favorite habitat for opihi.
An edit of an ocean abstract taken in Havana, the Capital of Cuba. I have been selling a few of these abstract lately, they look great on canvas. If you are interested, please send me a message.

It is summer again and I was fortunate enough to spend three days on a small Mediterranean island, it was the same place I visited briefly last summer. This time I has a little more time and I knew better what to do.
Among other things, I had the Lego Deep Sea Submarine with me and I took it for a swim... mission. This is from the first dive.
It says on the cover of the box of this Lego set: "Submarine does not float". I can tell you, it certainly doesn't sink either.
A beach backwash wave trips up an incoming breaker throwing towering spray into the air. Happiness comes in waves!
