Land Between The Lakes honored 7 year old Kingston Smith of Cadiz, KY on June 14, 2016. Kingston risked his own personal safety to save the life of a young visitor who had fallen into deep water. While out with his family at Hematite Lake, Kingston reacted instantly resulting in a positive outcome. Kingston received recognition from Forest Service staff, a certificate, and met Smokey Bear. On behalf of Land Between The Lakes, we wish to express our thanks to this young man who set an example and acted selflessly. Photo by Josh Frye

First flown as a B747-346SR ('Short Range' for Japan domestic services) with the Boeing test registration N6018N. The aircraft was delivered to JAL Japan Airlines as JA8186 in Feb-88. It was converted to full B747-346 standard in Jul-99. The aircraft was leased to JAL subsidiary JALways in Jun-02 and returned to Japan Airlines International in Sep-07. It was sold to Orient Thai Airways as HS-UTS in Oct-08. It wasn't with Orient Thai for long and was sold Apr-09 to Max Air Nigeria as 5N-MBB. It seems to spend long periods stored at Jakarta, Indonesia in between yearly Haj Pilgrimage operations between Nigeria and Jeddah. More recently it was stored at Rome, New York, USA between Apr/Sep-15. According to FlightRadar24, there are no flights noted in the last 6 months. (updated Mar-17).

I was home just for a moment before heading out the door to dine with my "soul sister" and former roommate. No matter how long the separation, the conversation just picks up where we left off.
At one point, we were hysterically laughing at ourselves talking about cholesterol, grown children and diet changes. When did we start sounding so old?
This photograph of my maternal grandparents was taken in celebration of their engagement in early 1942. My grandfather had just returned from Tobruk, where as one of the famous "Rats of Tobruk" he had helped repel the German Afrika Corps for over eight months. He only had a short time back home before his next tour of duty - the infernal jungles of Papua New Guinea. While he would often tell us anecodatal stories of his time in the army, he never talked about the fighting.
Our Visit to Zurich in April 2014 incl. Radisson BLU Royal Hotel in Dublin, St. Patricks Park, Swiss International Airlines, Park Hyatt in Zurich, Lake Zurich, Exploring the City of Zurich, Train to / from ZRH, Memorable rooms, Art and Architecture, good weather and eating / drinking experiences. Radisson BLU ZRH incl. Runway views, ZRH Observation Platform visit for Planespotting, Swiss / Lufthansa via FRA to DUB.
For me this is all about scale and expanse, the scale of those peaks dominating that glorious copse of trees yet being held back by the mass of water.

1987 - the divide between the Lower Schools East and West was readily apparent: 'we think the East buildings are pretty drab' 'we Westies don't mix with the Easties' 'the people there aren't very nice to us' 'East smells of disinfectant.' There was a Swiss Expedition to Val D'Herens. HMS Pinafore was performed for 2 nights by the staff. In the Boarding House, lights-out was at 9.15pm for first years and 11.30pm for sixth formers. Prep was from 6.00-8.00pm. The Headmaster Mr Kenningham confessed he'd used corporal punishment in a previous school but thought it a bad thing. The first exchange with Marblehead School in New Hampshire took place. Kent Opera conducted opera workshops. James Jones, John Lockyer, Linda Cookson, Jim Hunt, Elenore Williams, Paul Cheetham were staff leavers. Gary Yates played table tennis for England Cadets. In October a trip was made to Montepulciano in Italy. In exchange, the Italian students had this to say about their stay: 'I don't like early dinner very much.' 'In Italy we work much at School. English pupils have many breaks between lessons, they don't spend their lesson time very well and therefore have to study in the evenings.' 'You have more exams, more subjects, more breaks but less hours in lessons.'

I heard a southbound BNSF train approaching Litchfield, IL, so I set up along their tracks...only to have a Norfolk Southern train come through first on their adjacent line! I knew my only chance for a shot was a fleeting moment as the train passed between the rural skyscrapers...and it turned out pretty well, even at 40 MPH! NS 6339, an SD40E rebuilt from an SD50, leads the way on 3-28-12.
