With the northern winter sun falling fast, the long shadows cover much of the wooded landscape. After waiting for most of the day, U791 is finally departing MinnTac with fresh steaming ore pellets heading for Two Harbors with a trio of Dash-8s leading the way.
Between the pictures from this summer I thought it would be nice to share an image to mentally cool down. Every photographer has this magical moment once in a while, be it a stunning sunset, a magical glow in the forest or like this one a special encounter with wild life. We were driving through the amazing national park Yellowstone early in the morning through the fog when a herd of buffalo crossed a serieus river in the cold. I was amazed by their courage and rushed out to take some shots. It is a while ago but I believe this one closed the pack. Have a very nice (bit more chilled) weekend and many thanks in advance for your kind visit.
The backlight of the rising sun creates an interesting effect on the trees growing between the Tamar River and the road. Compare the tonal range in this picture with my other black and white this morning "Chaos, Inky Water". It all comes down to angle of light.
Between the trees, soft and sweet
The bare beauty, i do eat
Branches spread,before my eyes
Trees they open and do rise
Inviting me to slowly fill
Enjoy the touch and the thrill
Found between the trees, so sweet
Where bare beauty, i do eat
This month the (Freestyle on the Fifth (FOTF) theme was 'Letterbox'. The challenge was chosen by Gary.
This image was taken on a roadrip in the USA in 2013. I think it was on Route 66 between Sedona and Joshua Tree.
The most incredible sunset ripped through the sky and illuminated the line of ghostly letterboxes.
I really have no idea where the owners may have lived. It seemed we were in the middle of nowhere and were miles from civilization.
Maybe the letterboxes were safekeeping the letters for all those lost on the endless highway.....
Sorry I have to post and run. May not get to commenting until tomorrow.
Temps have dropped significantly but we’re still getting out to hike on most days. I love my nature therapy!
