The Real Me: Personality in Design

While some companies use their brand as an opaque facade to hide questionable practices, others are opening up to their audience and sharing their true personality. The result is a more honest relationship with customers. We will share real world examples of personality in action, explore key business benefits, discuss how to create a design persona, and explain the relationship between brand voice (which must be constant in all media) and tone (which varies in each situation).

New York has been very public in celebrating it's adoption of painted bicycle lanes in Manhattan - however I think that in North America, Montreal deserves some special attention for it's bold move to create separated, bi-directional, bicycle lanes right through the downtown area.

Montreal has quietly been installing them for a number of years (certainly well before Manhattan).

This is the scale of street tear-up and rebuild that Montreal has used in creating it's lovely very permanent bi-directional bicycle lanes, or "pistes cyclables" as they are called in French. In downtown one of the primary East-West lanes is on Boulevard Maissonueve.

A resident friend of mine (normally a driver) commented to me that an increase to respect/watch out for/accept cyclists by drivers had been tangible over the last few years - something she was still surprised by even though she was one of those who found herself being more aware of cyclists.

Last Thursday, March 15, I had some full body scans for my health care catastrophe.

This was hella painful (they put radiation in your body for teh bone one) && exhausting.

Later in the day I built an expressive Max patch - this thing running behind the text box - to express my ‘ numb + static ‘ feels and get them out of my system ... because pain / numb / static body feels can go where we choose it to go, if we abide with it and then choose to turn it into something else.

Mine went into this Max patch. Then I thought maybe other folks might want to build it, so I made this patch demo.

#ImissTeaching #MaxMSPJitter

⚡️

p.s. the ingrained patching habits demo'd here supported me creating this patch in about an hour despite being in a really painful headspace, and despite being literally radioactive

⚡️

building yr capacity to work by creating *no matter wtf is going on* will serve you in the future in ways you can't forsee. #ArtistCreatesThrough

PPS : You have to build the patch yourself to “have” it.
