It was a trip trying to get a shot of this Golden crown Kinglet (Scientific name: Regulus satrapa). It was constantly under dark areas with fleeting appearances. It's not my dream shot with all that noise from auto ISO at 6400 but for this specie I will make an exception🙏😁

The Northern Cardinal’s name dates back to the time of the United States founding colonists, stemming from the similarity of the males’ vibrant red plumage to the red biretta and vestments of distinguishable Catholic cardinals.

Fun Fact 2:

Northern Cardinals are classified as granivorous animals because they live on a diet consisting of mostly seeds. Their short, stout, cone-shaped beaks are specially designed to crack open the hulls on seeds and shells on nuts. Due to their love of seeds, you can easily attract cardinals to your feeders by using either sunflower seeds (their favorite!), safflower seeds, cracked corn, or shelled peanuts. The trumpeter swan is a species of swan found in North America. The heaviest living bird native to North America, it is also the largest extant species of waterfowl, with a wingspan of 185 to 250 cm.

MIGRATION:

Trumpeter Swans leave the Grande Prairie region of Alberta, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories in late October, when freeze-up is well advanced, for their journey south to the area where the states of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming meet (Tri-State area).

The Yellow-rumped Warbler is the only warbler able to digest the waxes found in bayberries and wax myrtles. Its ability to use these fruits allows it to winter farther north than other warblers, sometimes as far north as Newfoundland. Male Yellow-rumped Warblers tend to forage higher in trees than females do.

A few days ago I tried some backlit photos with the new kit! After not finding many other birds, I decided to just use some common Zebra Finches as my subject. The orange sunrise and dead branch really give the image that ‘outback’ feel! Oh and let me know what you think about the new watermark :)

A grayish warbler highlighted with rich red-brown and creamy buff in the summer, the Bay-breasted transforms itself in the fall into a mostly green and white warbler with a hint of bay on the flanks. Uncommon during migration, these birds are numerous in the forests of northern Canada, where they specialize on spruce budworms. They nest in low-elevation coniferous forests and forage fairly low in dense foliage on the inner part of the tree. In autumn they closely resemble Blackpoll Warblers, despite looking so unlike them in summer.

This Barred Owl yawns while trying to cough up a pellet in a tree at sunrise...

These are a well distributed species. The European Starlings stick around for the winter but I notice their numbers are significantly reduced.

Starlings have fine feathers

 

In the winter, their plumage is brownish with white spots. By summer, they dazzle and shine. When you catch them in sunlight, their feathers show shades of metallic greens, blues and purples. Scientists have discovered Starlings and other birds have an extra receptor that lets them see ultraviolet light. That means through the eyes of a bird, a Starling's feathers are likely brighter and more color-saturated than how we humans see them. (lyricbirdfood.com)
