Photography is a great uniter of countries, cultures, neighborhoods, families and friends. Iāve started a group named Photo-Phactory. Please share your best images with me.
From my archives. A photo of two kids walking back to their tent after playing by the beach off East Coast Park Singapore.
The tree branch in the top of the picture was from the tree I was seeking shelter on when I took this shot. I was torn between removing or keeping it; I decided to keep it for brevity in post processing. =)
I was told: āGo to the top of the Home Depot parking garage for the best view of the Hollywood sign.ā
Do you agree?

It's actually a few miles from the dam but it has a dam(n) good reputation!
:Not my mug, but my husbands. Here's to all the amazing teachers out there, making it work for their kids. Getting lesson plans ready for them online, and putting in just as many hours at home as they do in the classroom.

Smile on Saturday theme: āLIGHT & SHADE"
š Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. Itās really appreciated. š
Bry and I spent 4 days down at the Best Friends Sanctuary outside Kanab, it was our first extended trip since the birth of our daughter in January. Needless to say we haven't really done much/any nightscape imaging for many months, I decided I coudln't pass up on the good weather we had one of the nights so I dragged myself out of bed around 1am and shot a pano in front of the cottage. Even with some light pollution from Kanab, just below the core area, the Sanctuary has very dark skies. This was also just the second time I've used my ZWO ASI2600mc Pro to do nightscape imaging, still working through the post processing workflow to refine all that since nobody else is really using those cameras for this purpose. I paired the camera with a Voigtlander 50mm APO along with a 3D printed adapter for the E-mount lens since ZWO doesn't make an adapter that allows those lenses to be used on their cameras. I need to dial in a little bit of tilt with the lens, but it's such a great lens it's hardly noticeable anyways.
All in all a great trip with the baby, hopefully Bry can get out and do some shooting during our next trip which will probably be Yellowstone in late June. Time flies with a baby, that's for sure.
35 exposures went into this pano, all 2 minutes at f2.2 and gain 100 on the ASI2600mc Pro with a Voigtlander 50mm APO lens, Fornax Lightrack II tracking mount.

Coaster is a commuter rail service, it stands for Coast Express Railway, in that case the American west coast is mentioned, a pretty short line between Oceanside and San Diego, trains run pretty often, sometimes 1 train per hour in each direction, sometimes 3 trains per direction. This spot is right after Carlsbad Poinsettia station where Coasters do their stop. Earlier you could have seen F40ās but the NCTD wanted to do a upgrade and have bought the Siemens-built Siemens Chargers which are modern, efficient and better how theyāve thought but if you know what right now happens with the Pacific Surfliner SC-44ās ypu will understand that they arenāt that good.

for the theme "dolls" in Smile on Saturday! :-)
As ever I love to see the Turnstones at Southwold, and on a dull, cold January day yesterday that didn't provide good conditions for photography, both the Turnstones and I just got on with it, putting our best foot forward!
I found these best of friends at a farm in Pennsylvania not long ago. The cat and pig were just hanging out in the pig pen.
Thank You, Friend
Thank you, friend, for all the things
That mean so much to me--
For concern and understanding
You give abundantly.
Thanks for listening with your heart;
For cheering me when I'm blue;
For bringing out the best in me;
And just for being you.
Thanks for in-depth conversation
That stimulates my brain;
For silly times we laugh out loud;
For things I can't explain.
For looking past my flaws and faults;
For all the time you spend;
For all the kind things that you do,
Thank you; thank you, friend.

I posted a monochrome version of this photo a while back, but have added this color version to my "Best of 2024" images and never posted it to Flickr.
I shot this through the window of the shop, which was closed. I remarked that the cash register, although "antique" is certainly modern for an 1880s display of what the store looked like when the ferry crossed the Snake River. However I surmise that the register is actually used for the tourist trips folks can take on the ferry currently.
Happy 11th anniversary to PhotoJennic, the best adventure partner ever! May we have many, many more!

SLR 512 working on a Sunday was also making it's best impression of 394 from the day's of CN and even SLR's Emons past. This little GP40 was working hard to switch the big cuts of cars (basically LPG loads) so a second unit would have helped both of us out!

I rarely come out of the AI bubble, but today...a moment with my bestie captured my heart. Sometimes you just have to cuddle up with someone you love and celebrate a wonderful friendship.
Oh, you're the best friend that I ever had
Been with you such a long time
You're my sunshine
And I want you to know
That my feelings are true
I really love you
Caitlin (left) and her best friend Callyn. They've been best friends since grade school They both graduate next year from high school. We love Callyn.
Wilbur clambered far out on a point below the main viewing area looking for the best vantage point for sunset at the Grand Canyon.
One of the tasks occupying my time recently is to prepare a book of photographs of Wilbur's adventures over the past year for his children for Christmas. So I will be posting some of my finds for the book here on Flickr.
