Cal Archery Academy, Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is a program of USA Archery that teaches archery to young people, provides great opportunities for awarding achievement, and helps archers to enjoy the sport recreationally or progress to the excitement of competition! CAL Archery Academy is designed as a RECURVE only archery training program and has a more serious, skill-development-oriented atmosphere. Beginners without equipment are welcome and competition does not need to be a required goal for participation.

Erected in 2009 (after I had left), Berkeley Big People, created by Scott Donahue, are a pair of 9.4m statues overlooking I-80 from the Berkeley entrance/pedestrian bridge. Caltrans was not thrilled by the statues, which cost $196,000, the most expensive public art erected by the city, thinking it would prove a distraction to drivers. Berkeley Big People honors Berkeley's proud history of social activism, though many driving by think that it just shows a bunch of angry people. It is nowhere near UC Berkeley.

I was walking down the street to meet up with some friends and had my camera in case I came by something cool. In this case, something cool came by me. Luckily my gear bag allows for really quick access and I was able to get my camera out and grab four or five shots as it passed by with sirens blazing. This one was the best of them and while there are some elements in the picture that could be much better I still really like the image overall.
