Ok, so New Year's didn't kick off the way I expected. Aside from my grandfather passing away on Dec. 27, the university screwing up my financial aid papers, and just a bunch of family drama llama I also have the whole "guy issues" deal going on.

Dunno. Didn't think someone would assume I was not bright enough to recognize BS excuses, especially when they aren't accordant with the argument that was brought up. Things like that hurt. Still have yet to hear back from them, but oh well. I'll sip on my soda to ease the butterflies in my stomach.

So, in order to keep my mind off of all these things I decided to put my energy into something positive & productive. Today I picked out a new color to paint my whole room in. I fell in love with this color, and I can't wait 'til it's all done by tomorrow!

deer outside the kitchen window today, well everyday really. They're cute as hell but I am sure I will change my tune once I plant a garden.

This room was in need of new paint, some finishing touches and new window fixtures.

We couldn't deal with the pea green color in this room - it really clashed with our furniture.

Backlighted shutters stand temporarily in the cased opening . I am in the bedroom, looking into the sitting room. Big box contains a microwave drawer. More things are yet to happen in both rooms

Behr paint 730C-3(Castle Path), turned out a bit darker than expected but I'll reserve my judgment until tomorrow morning when it cures.

Her bed is the Hemnes daybed (with trundle!) from IKEA. The drawers are actually functional too! Her bedding is from HomeGoods. The hope chest was my grandparents (Pedersen).

Did you know we actually used two different shades of brown in the house? See notes for color info.

True story: you used to could type in homodepot.com, and it would take you to the Home Depot Web site.

Never again will I doubt Behr paint. It is THE BEST. EVER.

Edging where the breakfast nook meets the living room wall. Eventually the ceilings will match the living room. This photo is really the most true-to-life color for the teal...some of the others look too bright.

Saturday we managed to paint the hallway & living room areas (minus the trim). This shows the new versus the original (new on the right, original on the left). I like color. A lot. This picture doesn't really do it justice. We finished painting the kitchen/dining room today...all that is left is to paint the trim pure white. I will undertake that task tomorrow. We are thrilled with the outcome.

Next: Finish trim, THEN paint my study. I am going to paint the entire upstairs this summer. Three more rooms :-D

One of my favorite pictures

kathleen, probably checking her facebook and myspace..hahaha.

The old pants hangers were my great aunt Frieda's. I hung a couple pieces of art I found, some of Serena's original artwork, and a painting her friend Cora gave her. The clock is a chalkboard clock from IKEA.

At night time, the color turns more yellow. Still not overbearing though.

Edging the corners of the breakfast nook...kind of looks like a kindergardener did it. ;-)
