50 Shades of Beige! I can "Behr"ly decide on a color when Behr paint offers so many varieties. (Moderators: This section of paint chip cards equates to 2 3/4" in real life)

The Behr ceiling paint is much more watery than Valspar.

The Perturbed Sanctum

I am not motivated to cook for myself.....rather, I cook for my animals.....and by definition, that puts me in THE OLDER GENERATION.

On the Silestone counter tops I have arrayed three of my favorite small appliances......the Aroma rice cooker, the Cuisinart slow cooker, and above them the awesome Breville toaster oven--my oven of choice for smaller dishes. (I love my Bertazzoni gas range, but seldom use its oven....I could be happy with a gas stovetop, and a separate oven.)

The Silestone is antibacterial, and impermeable to stain or odors.

It does not require any maintenance, unlike granite or marble. I love the soft grayness of its color combined with my earthy yellow ochre walls, always sunny and inviting even of dark days.

Even though I am not much on cooking, the kitchen remains a pivotal center of my homemaking activities. I'm told my placement of the LG washer/dryer combo in the kitchen is a more European choice......the architect who drew the plans wanted a closet for the laundry stuff, but I insisted on it being located on an outside wall for easy venting, avoiding the humidity issues of our very humid Mobile environment.

It is nesting time in the northern hemisphere....time to give your home a hug for sheltering you. Celebrate life.

This almost-square dining room began cut off from the kitchen and living room, so in the 2014-2015 whole house remodel, the entire space was opened up. A pair of doors opening into the dining area came down to be replaced by plantation shutters. The front and back walls of the kitchen were replaced with cased openings, allowing for the 42" high bar with room for two people to dine, shown above, a window seat with heavy-duty storage beneath. And while I wanted IKEA cabinets, my dear Bill wanted custom, which is what he got.

The cozy feeling in the space was enhanced by installing a display "cove" around the room, and adding LED rope lighting for intimacy Everything you see was not there before, including the wide plank ash hardwood flooring. I put the table together and painted it. Love the minimalist ghost chairs, and two teak benches. Countertops are quartz Silestone "Stellar Snow". Antibacterial, heat tolerant, and do not require sealing at all, whereas granite and marble are a bitch to maintain.

Please note: I have a palm-bladed ceiling fan to replace the light fixture, soon as I can allow someone to enter. I am unstable on ladders these days.

Old rockin’ chair’s got me! It rests the back, and rocking moves the blood . I haven't checked to see if my Apple watch registers the movement as "activity," but that would be an easy way to lap my daily circles!

Paint: Behr Rocky Mountain Sky is much more soothing and I love how it contrasts with the chocolate brown curtains.

Behr "Grass Cloth". Very pretty green. I wanted "Asparagus" but DH liked this better. Plus, delight. used this color and I love it!

Here is my AFTER transformation (albeit missing furniture, decor and wall art). I freshened up the paint with Behr's Onyx Black beneath the chair rail in an eggshell finish. Chair rail, window trim and door trim were all repainted in Behr's Ultra White. Above the chair rail I painted in Behr's Gentle Rain (medium tone grey) in a semi-gloss to contrast the eggshell finish below.

Over the next month I plan to add a futon/fold out for unexpected guests, wall art and other furnishings to finish it off. Even in an 'uncomplete' state it looks tons better!!

Shot taken with my back to the dining room, chair in foreground is one of two beside the fireplace. Loveseat faces the fireplace, sits on a 5 x 8 wool rug. Part of the French bifold wooden door to the master suite is visible through the doorway which also leads up to the two bedrooms and bath there. Gallery frames to left contain prints of photos I took at Mystic Seaport Museum CT. Buyers wanted the house left furnished.

AFTER - Final pic of Living rm redesign

I finished repainting the regular three walls today and the trim. All I have left is to paint two bookshelves (outside will be the accent wall color and interior will be the color of the regular walls).

I LOVE the new color of the walls. Such a relief to have the color I really wanted.

Accent wall: Behr Ultra Premium Spicy Cayenne

Regular Wall Color: Behr Ultra Premium Pumpkin Butter

Trim: Behr Ultra Premium Ultra White

Ceiling: Behr Ultra Premium Butter Cookie

The wall on the left is the accent wall. I didn't want to show the whole room, b/c it's a mess right now (drop cloths around, etc, etc).

Love the use of the lighter airy cotton voiles with the heavier silk duppioni curtains (curtains and rods from Pottery Barn). You can't see it here, but there is a "jewelry wall" in the far corner.

This is my latest theater setup

This is the console wall in the living room. Behr WARM TERRACOTTA paint. A mirror with wood geometric design over the mirror. Then that cut glass vase has money plant seed pods (tissue thin) which I grew in our garden. Sort of a silvery beige.

The good people at Behr Paint are sponsoring a great giveaway at my little blog-home this week!

3 of my buds get 3 gallons of Behr Ultra (the miracle paint with primer mixed in!)

Drop in and throw your name in the hat!

All Things Heart and Home

I really like how my piece of furniture turned out! And despite what it appears my room is not pink, it's some god awful shade of tan. (That too will be changing this year - the last owners of this house had horrendous taste in color).

After painting the sunroom, I realized how much the rest of the house needed painting (the people before us painted EVERYTHING the same boring color - including the baseboard & crown molding). We decided to try out the new Behr Ultra Premium Plus paint, as it was on sale ($5 off per gallon) - the primer is included in the paint. The colors we chose were those above:

Walls (brown): Warm Nutmeg

Ceiling (tan): Plateau

Trim (white): Ultra White

This was for the living room/dining room/kitchen/hallway (open floor plan).

finally! we were so sick of the yellow walls. the color is "beach blanket" by behr paint.

I settled on "Hot Pink" from Behr
