Begonia Tree-Cane: The Flowers just keep coming, in various shades of delicate pink!

Complicated focus where none of the yellow stamens are in sharp focus but with f/40 I was able render acceptable focus; but this was a selective process and an exercise in 'trial and error' - I almost gave up !
The begonia family is a large and varied one, with members originating in China, India, South Africa and South America.

Begonia longicaulis Ridl. Begoniaceae. Grows on boulders or fallen logs in the damp gully on sandstone rocks at about 2000 m altitude. Endemic in Peninsular Malaysia, known only from the gully on Gunung Gedong, Gunung Tahan, Pahang.

Begonia propagation from a leaf cone cutting. The center of the leaf is cut out and the remainder is curled into a cone and planted. Roots and new plants form at the cut ends of the leaf veins.
begonias remind me a lot of Geraniums. The blooms are prettier. This is a deadly red. I actually had to de-saturate the red a bit to get the details.

Begonias are great for the shade. This tuberous begonia has big, brightly coloured rose-like flowers.

Begonia is a very large genus of ca. 1500 species of herbs and subshrubs that occur predominantly in the tropical rainforests of both hemispheres. Unfortunately none of the species on display in the Domes were labelled, so I can't provide names. These photos, taken at the Mitchell Domes (and indoor conservatory) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, show four of the species currently on display.
