Ich wünsche euch einen schönen Sonntag, auch wenn nicht die Sonne scheinen sollte, wie hier bei mir, genießt den Frühlingsanfang!
This is a shot of a peacock making a vainglorious display of colors in order to celebrate the beginning of spring: the vernal equinox occurred today at 11:03 AM. Pontikonēssi, Corfu Island, Greece.
The transition from winter to spring season is well announced with these primroses and they are the first flowers blooming from end of February, up to may in the temperate north hemisphere. Spring is coming !!!! And for those who still have snow, be optimistic, spring comes in your way and it is inevitable, ... unless you're living in Antarctic!! :) And I hope this picture provides you a little wave of spring air :)
Let's say goodbye to winter and have a joyful start into the first spring week !!

Tulips are Spring perennials that grow from bulbs, and did you know that are hundred of varieties? There is the parrot tulip, the double tulip, the fringed one, and some many others!

The day finally came, and I had the chance to go for a long walk. The grass was still very muddy, but walking on the side walks was a great treat for me. The morning was still fresh and a bit cloudy most of the time, the Canada gees were walking everywhere, others were singing, and the trees seemed to be awakening from their long sleep, and on days like these I feel like dancing, don't you?

Nature inspired me to become a photographer. I specially love trees, birds and flowers, but there is so much to see, enjoy and capture during a long hiking trip, a lake, a conservation area, forest or park, the list of places is very long!
Graphic design is another way to express myself. I love reinventing a photo that I have seen, in different ways. I use Photoshop to do these transformations, and I also my own photos to create textures.

The Winter flowering cherry tree is showing its last flush of flowers before its summer rest as the Spring flowers of Forsythia come into flower.
It was a dull overcast day so have had to tweak this a fair bit to get the colours.

Even if spring this year just started at the end of last autumn
and nature is at least 3 weeks ahead the "normal schedule",
officially spring starts today in the northern hemisphere ... ENJOY !

Temperatures have soared here, from well below freezing to several degrees above. Combined with the suns warming snow and ice are melting fast.

Grape hyacinths bloom at the beginning of spring, giving these typical blue grape-shaped inflorescences. Photo was taken during my recent journey to homeland.

After I had to spend what felt like ice ages waiting for buses today - due to heavy snowfall last night - I'm absolutely longing for springtime...meanwhile here comes a little forerunner.

Dazu ein paar Bauernregeln (weil's so schön ist... :-)

* Wie sich die Sonne zum Frühling wendet, so auch unser Sommer endet
Okay, okay… es wird noch ein bißchen dauern, bis man das Sprungbrett wieder benutzen kann!

The "photographic" beginning of spring will still take a while ... :-))
The beginning of spring is always filled with a few shoots, a little bit of color, but mostly dirt. I have what I call my "muddy" shoes. Those shoes that I won't wear for anything else except going into the forest when it's muddy and messy. I love to watch how spring progresses. Pretty soon, before we know it, everything will be covered with blooming vibrant plants and flowering trees, and the warblers and the swallows will be everywhere.
