In glorious Mayo weather on the 24/04/2014 work began on assembling the 2nd shelter in the Wild Nephin project.Eleven Mountain Meitheal volunteers spent two days erecting both the shelter and a toilet. The grid ref is F946123. Pre-fabricated in Avondale Co. Wicklow, disassembled and transported to Mayo, the shelter was reassembled and completed without a hitch but what happened to the six inch nails??
The bottled water demonstration organized by Sociology 383: Social Change and the Sociology Club at Sonoma State University.
The demonstration was a way to raise awareness about the real cost of bottled water, provide information on alternatives and collect signatures to get more recycling bins on campus as well as a purified water filling station.

Like many other flickr users today I will be starting a 365 project for the 2010 year. While this isn't a photo from today (1/1/10) I decided a while ago that if I did a 365 I would pick a day to look through my archive and choose a photo to post. Coincidentally this was scheduled to be on a Friday. So here is a photo from last week down at Pacific Place in Seattle.
I hope, but won't expect, my 365 turning out as good as Ed's or Diaz's. Both of theirs from last year are amazing, if you're not familiar go check them out.

It was a spectacular Sunset on Ice at Chatfield Lake, Littleton, Colorado, Sunday, December 12, 2010.
This shot is looking to the Northwest, away from the setting Sun.
I live about 12 miles away from Manchester. On the evening of the attack, I was in the city centre, about a mile away from the Arena, about 2 hours before it happened. This event has shaken me, but I have been so heartened by the coming together, compassion and support that has happened as a result. And so, I want to be able to give something back to the people affected by that attack, and I will post pictures of the wee creature who has told me would like to be made for this important work.
At the end of the evening, I will start a charity raffle for this wee creature, with all proceeds being donated to the Manchester Emergency Fund. I'll post full details of how the raffle will run once the wee creature has appeared.
So, this is what's on my work bench just now - can you guess which wee creature wants to be made?!
Tonight we were invited for dinner by our friends. They showed us their new fireplace. They had positioned al chairs around it, so it was warm and we had a great view on the dancing flames.

Today will be the first of several gatherings with various family groups over the next few days. My assignment for this event was to bring:
-salad (yes, there is some lettuce under there - topped with salami, mozzarella balls, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and olives - yum!)
-chips and dip (the note is a reminder to get the dip out of the fridge and pack it!).
The basket, of course, is packed with little gifts for everyone.
Now I'm off to pack up the car and get going!

Tot het begin van de jaren ’70 in de vorige eeuw was Houten een boerendorp met zo’n 4000 inwoners. Die charme vind je er anno nu nog steeds terug, met name rond het zogenaamde Oude Dorp. Daaromheen heeft Houten zich de afgelopen decennia ontwikkeld tot een heuse forensengemeente met een kleine 50.000 inwoners. De stedenbouwkundige structuur is er uniek, de stijl van woningen zeer gevarieerd en de nadruk ligt in Houten vooral op fietsers en voetgangers. De brede fietspaden geven ruim baan aan alle fietsers die hun dagelijkse weg richting school en werk ondernemen. Ze leiden langs de mooiste plekjes in en rondom Houten. Kinderen kunnen hier veilig naar school fietsen want vrijwel alle scholen liggen aan een fietsroute.
De heerlijk lichte, ruime en energiezuinige vrijstaande villa aan het Viswater 54, is een heuse ‘catch’! Deze woning met aparte garage is gelegen op 572 m2 grond. Als je deze woning weet te vangen zal je de term ‘ontspannen wonen’ aan den lijve ondervinden vanaf het moment dat je erin trekt. Deze aan het water gelegen villa uit 2008 is echt à f, je kunt er zo in! De natuur is er nadrukkelijke aanwezig, die ervoor zorgt dat je ieder seizoen intens meebeleeft via de steeds veranderende flora en fauna. Rondom de woning is er een fraaie tuin met beregeningsinstallatie aangelegd die aan de achterkant leidt naar een heerlijk ruime vlonder van 32 m2 aan het water, uitkijkend op een eilandje waar vele watervogels hun thuis hebben. Hier overvalt je het ultieme vakantiegevoel wanneer je aan het einde van een drukke dag alleen of in goed gezelschap geniet van een ontspannend glas wijn tot de zon er ondergaat. De tuin is gunstig gelegen op het zuiden.
De royale hal met fraaie trapopgang biedt toegang tot meerdere ruimtes op de begane grond. Zo is aan de voorkant, naast de entree, een werkkamer gesitueerd die ideale mogelijkheden biedt. De majestueuze living heeft net als de rest van deze verdieping een marmeren vloer met vloerverwarming. De muren zijn fijn gestuukt met spachtelputz en ook de fraaie gas openhaard is strak van vorm. De woonkamer heeft aan de tuinzijde een grote erkerpartij en openslaande deuren. Aan de zij-tuin bevinden zich eveneens openslaande deuren. Aan de achter- en zijkanten van de woning bevinden zich zonneluifels. De woonkamer loopt via de open eetkamer over in een moderne strakke keuken die af te sluiten is met suitedeuren. De keuken is voorzien van inbouwapparatuur zoals een extra grote inductiekookplaat, RVS afzuigkap, combimagnetronoven, koelkast, vriezer en vaatwasser. Ook een ruime bijkeuken, met kasten en bergruimte en de trap zelf komen uit in de hal. Daarnaast heeft de bijkeuken een buitendeur.
De overloop op de eerste verdieping biedt toegang tot twee ruime slaapkamers, waarvan één met Frans balkon. De uiterst luxueuze en uitermate ruime badkamer is voorzien van een dubbele natuurstenen wastafel, een inloopdouche en een groot ligbad. Het toilet is separaat aan de andere kant van de gang. Op de tweede etage bevindt zich een tweede badkamer, met douche en vaste wastafel. En opnieuw twee zeer ruime slaapkamers, waarvan ook één met Frans balkon. Ook hier een separaat toilet en nog een aparte was- en stook/bergruimte. De basis van beide bovenverdiepingen wordt gevormd door een laminaatvloer en ook hier strak gestuukte spachtelputz wanden.
Wonen in de wijk Het Water in Houten Zuid betekent wonen in een kindvriendelijke omgeving met veel sportfaciliteiten en scholen in de directe omgeving. Het water is ook letterlijk nooit ver weg want deze wijk wordt gekenmerkt door de aanwezigheid van grachtjes en sloten.
In het nabijgelegen winkelcentrum Castellum, op 5 minuten fietsen, kan je terecht voor je dagelijkse boodschappen. Ook op de gezellige terrassen die het hier gastvrij verder aankleden, is het aangenaam toeven.
Het openbaar vervoer is uitstekend geregeld in deze wijk. Het treinstation ligt op 5 minuten fietsen en binnen 10 minuten ben je op CS Utrecht. Verkies je eigen vervoer, dan bereik je met de auto in 5 minuten de verbindingsweg A27. Vanuit deze landelijke woonomgeving te midden van vele boomgaarden bereik je op de fiets in een kwartier de historische binnenstad van levendig Utrecht.

Woww so I havent been on flickr in forever. My apologies. I was actually only on here cause the picture I was sketching was on here and then I felt bad so I figured I'd upload something. I would update you all on my life but I doubt anyone actually cares so I'm gonna shut up now.
The 'Sacred Places of Maharashtra' adventure was a 10-day journey that took place in the Indian state of Maharashtra, also known as the ‘land of the saints’. To begin the pilgrimage, a satsang and darshan in Pune was held where many local people got the chance to meet a living Master, Paramahamsa Vishwananda, for the very first time. In the days that followed, Guruji and the pilgrims traveled all across the region to walk in the footsteps of the saints who had lived in these now holy sites. In addition to visiting the samadhis of these saints, many auspicious temples were visited along the way. The stories of the lives of these saints touched everyone who was fortunate enough to be there, and being on this pilgrimage together with Guruji was truly an unforgettable journey.
