estherlamb_: That fringe looks sick
eoihar: I LOVE that colour! How would I describe it to my hairdresser?
Every bit of molding and trim in our house was painted an awful orange color when we moved in. We immediately painte dmost of the moldings and windows, but the banister stayed orange until recently. We started painting Labor Day weekend, it took forever to do an adequate job, and even now touch-ups will be needed. Painting a banister in a 4-story house kind of blows.
Look at how her stomach doesnt go over the front of her jeans now! With just a few more applicators her tummy will be back to normal, before kids!
On the left, the Nantuxent Creek threatens to undermine the only road in and out of Money Island, New Jersey. On the right, our three-year-old living shoreline helps to rebuild the creek's wetland bank, thus protecting the expensive road.
My name is Valerie. I am 28 years old and a very happy Lucille Roberts member!
Growing up I was always just a little bit bigger than my friends, but I don't think I would have ever been labeled "the fat one" of the group. I gained a few pounds throughout college as many people do, but it wasn't until a few years after graduation that I noticed my clothes fitting tighter and my face was getting rounder. I'm sorry, but one chin is enough! I had become "the fat girl" in all of my social circles.
After going on vacation a couple of years ago I was disgusted with every picture of myself. I was 26 years old and a size 14...almost a size 16. I felt unattractive and embarrassed. It was time for a change. I decided to change my eating habits and join a gym. I chose Lucille Roberts for its women's only membership, which lends to a comfortable and accepting environment. There are so many different types of classes and I love taking them all. The instructors were friendly and made the classes fun and exciting.
Within a year, I had lost 45 pounds and I had dropped down to a size 4 jeans.
I love shopping for clothes now! Friends actually joke that "poor Valerie can't find a size 4 in this store". I am that size 4 that I NEVER thought I would become. I feel more attractive now and am no longer the fat girl of the group.
Thanks to the continuous support from friends, family and Lucille Roberts, now, about a year and a half after being a size 14/16, I maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle( on my way to reaching my 50th pound!) I have gone from saying "I hate running, how can anyone do that for fun?" to actually running and completing a half marathon! I continue to work out at Lucille Roberts a few times a week and have 2 more races lined up! I have even motivated a couple of friends to join Lucille Roberts and work out with me. They love it too and we always look forward to meeting up at Lucille Roberts and work out together.
Thanks for all your help!

My edit for "Fix It Friday" over at I heart Faces
The edit was done in Lightroom 3:
exposure +1.05
recovery +15
Fill Light +11
Blacks +7
Brightness -13
Highlights -7
and played with the color sliders (exposure & hue) till I got the colors I wanted
This closet had stood essentially unchanged since we moved in 2 years ago. I'd tried some organization: for example, I'd sorted the various cables by types and put them in labeled bags. By the way, anyone else remember the old AppleTalk PhoneNet connectors? Yeah, I got them.
You can see how I started just stacking stuff on top. This unstable structure was one good shake from a two-year-old from collapsing.
Haircut & Color by Sylvia Bueno.
Client after Color Correction. Warm medium-brown base plus full-head heavy weave of golden highlights.
People ask how I did it. I realized I was too lazy to stay fat. I realized working out one hour a day hard was a helluva lot less work than not working out at all, just being fat, lifting and carrrying all those pounds 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. There is no such thing as fat AND lazy. Once I realized that, the rest has taken a long time, but it has been easy. I'm not where I'm going yet. But as you can see, I'm pretty close now.

Just for a bit of fun, I thought I'd put up the before and after versions of this photo side by side. Just shows what you can do!! I'd completely forgotten to change the white balance, for a start, from doing some stuff indoors, so it was set on tungsten and everything came out blue. Score 1 for Photoshop right there! Then a bit of judicious cropping, using the graduated filter, toning down highlights, bringing up the clarity a bit, putting on a vignette and some work with the frankly amazing content aware and cloning tools, and Bob's your proverbial mother's brother! But now you can see where the shadow on the wall behind the people - which I totally forgot to do anything about! - came from... So there's still nothing Photoshop can do about the clot using it! :-D
I haven't done a before and after in a while. Left is SOOC (straight out of the camera)...good old ugly auto-white balance! I snapped a shot of a Robin Meyers grey card in this location and used that to set my white balance...and tweaked it from there. What a cutie!
