A couple of weeks ago we set up a very interesting challenge at our weekly camera club meeting. All members were invited to bring along a camera and go outdoors at 8pm for 30 minutes. At the end of that time they were to come back with only 4 images. No editing, straight out of camera jpeg files, with the 4 images they'd chosen to be presented to the rest of the members in the second half of the meeting on the projector screen. We meet in a small village hall so the scenery around it is not exactly scintillating but still it was interesting to see the variety of work that came back. This was one of my 4 shots but I have since done some post processing work on it although what you see is what came out of the camera, only with a bit of dodging and burning applied and a bit of 'drama' added with a Topaz filter (and then toned down!). Still if there are others out there who belong to camera clubs and you are looking at how to fill an evening this was a really enjoyable meeting activity and everyone enjoyed it.
There's a link to the straight-out-of-camera version in the first comment box if you are interested in seeing what a little bit of post processing can do.
It's that heart of gold & stardust soul that make you beautiful.

What a difference 24 years make! The top pic was snapped in 1999, and the latter shot yesterday in 2023! Almost a quarter century since this iconic ball park (the former Tiger Stadium) has been razed. The stadium was then recently closed a few months after its final game on September 27, 1999. After a decade of being dormant, the stadium was razed in late 2008. The original diamond still remains and serves as a Little League Stadium for PAL (Police Athletic League) along with apartment and townhouses and various new businesses along with some of the old ones that still remain in Corktown (named after County Cork, Ireland). The top picture was shot with a Kodak KB 35mm (1999) and the bottom image was shot with my iPhone 13 Pro Max. For years now, I’ve been meaning to do a before and after collage, and needless to say “mission accomplished”!
Before and after Picnik.
I'm trying to create rainbows on the flowers in my garden via a holographic prism. I took a group of photos around 3 p.m. with poor results. Will try later in the evening when the sun is lower. Meanwhile, this shot through the prism into the sun just emerging from behind a cloud came out pretty nice.
I've been advised by one of my contacts that she could not add a comment to this photo so I've reloaded the image.
Playing around with picture of a railroad tie cabin I took with my cell phone. Thought it be interesting to show where the picture started along with the final result.
For the Crazy Tuesday theme of opposite, crisp packets before and after! These are my favourite brand of crisps or chips as they are known for many of you throughout the world. McCoy’s are crunchy, full of flavour crisps and when I open a packet it’s not long before they are all gone!
it's thursday... and time for another before and after play

a shot from last summer - it was right before sunset...
changed the white balance in ACR
ran red leaf vintage quick adjust (with tweaks)
ran Nichole Van green acid tint (I usually dial it back quite a bit, but I loved the effect at 100% on this shot)
added a Nichole Van texture to finish it
Opened in ACR and increased Exposure and saturation slightly.
Rotated image slightly.
Cloned out Windows (took a while).
Cloned out rugs on the left.
Copied the left bottom of the couch and flipped horizontally and replaced the right side of the couch.
Added texture (I found this random texture on my computer that was pretty yellow)..set Layer to overlay.
Masked out around the couch and baby at 50%.
Burned edges.
I think thats it! Enjoy!
i used this old scale image and created 3 different textured versions. the pics with before & afters....along with a recipe sharing video is up on my blog.
for this image i used my new 2 for texture 'fab'
Most of you know that I love riding around Paris taking photos for my "hier et aujourd'hui" (yesterday and today) series. I also love seeing the same kinds of photos of other cities around the world. However, this "yesterday and today" makes me ill and is frightening. But, it is not really surprising, because this is what evil does.

I take the photograph of the doll and compose a real photograph as a background.
I process it into the image which I imaged afterwards.
This changed a scene into night moonlight in the place where poppy was on the terrace dressed in the gown.
I pray for a friend to see this enjoying it.
I *just* opened up Saturday, October 27th for two classes. They will be held at 10am (PST) and at 6pm (PST). Please refer to my blog for information about my editing classes! All editing is 100% manual; zero actions are used. I believe in having full control over each step of the editing process, and to do that, images MUST be edited by hand.
If you are interested or have questions, please email me at lisa@ljhollowayphotography.com.
Happy Friday everyone!

26 September 2009. The 366-1 theme this week is "Before and after".
At this time of the year Impatiens seedpods explode dramatically at the lightest touch and scatter seeds in all directions.
Let me start with a disclaimer that this is possibly is my first and last Danbo shot =P So heres what happened, I was getting Danbo for a friend of mine and he insisted I get one too...Well! having seen such awesome Danbo shots all around flickr, I thought "hey! why not!!"...
This is why not!!!! Danbo comes out of the box, says he wants to be different from all the other Danbos on flickr, so he wants to be called DanB (Such a wannaB!) and wants to walk the tight rope in his introductory shot....
So I say okay but be careful and I let him!!! He walks for a Sec or two and DHAM! he is on the ground in pieces, all broken and bruised (This is what comes from giving into peer pressure DanB!!!) So long story short, dont think you ll see many more Danbo shots from me cause he is really hurt...
Moral of the story:
A) Never give KK any toy, she is an evil child and will definitely break it (even if its unbreakable one like Danbo) *no wonder her parents always send her out to play with the boys and kept her away from toys :p"
B) *Serious moral variety, read at your own peril* - Dont give in to peer pressure people, you are awesome just the way you are :D

Our Daily Challenge - Before and After - 6/6/11
My costume lineup for 2016: Bunny Raven (for the Bunny Hutch); Lady Blackhawk; Gadget from Rescue Rangers; Squirrel Girl Phoenix.
Okay, so that last one on the end wasn't really a costume, but it makes for a cute evolution. :) By Sunday evening the corset was killing me so it was easier to run to the room and just leave the makeup on. I'd say I was smart for bringing the outfit along but the same thing happened last year. At least I'm consistent!
